6:30 PM on C-SPAN's "Road to the White House 2008"

This Sunday night Road to the White House includes remarks
by Gov. Mark Warner (D-VA) in New Hampshire at a luncheon hosted by the
New Hampshire Senate Democratic Caucus. The event takes place at the
Puritan Conference Center in Manchester. Gov. Warner has not announced
he's running for president. New Hampshire is expected to hold the
nation's first presidential primary in 2008.

It's kind of cool that I work in Manchester, as I'll have the chance to meet many presidential candidates over the next few years. From what I read and heard, Warner went over big in NH.

I think the NH Democratic "establishment" is looking for a centrist candidate like Warner or Bayh to back, and I think Warner has the better shot.

I wish I lived in NH or Iowa.  Maryland has no say whatsoever.

It would be cool to live in an early primary state like IA or NH. New Jersey recongizing that we need to do more then just be hit up for money, has moved its Presidential Primary to late Feburary.

I just watched the program and thought that Warner gave a very good speech. He is clearly much more down to earth and more personable than Evan Bayh. He clearly impressed the establishment Democrats very much.

I think he needs to brush up on foreign policy/national security issues though, as that seems to be a weak point.

I just watched as well. I thought the people there were impressed by him. He is trying to learn more and more about federal issues, which is one of the purposes of his new federal PAC, Forward Together. He's done excellent work dealing with the Virginia National Guard and the reserves there in VA.

Warner is a better public speaker than I previously gave him credit for. He also showed a very good sense of humor, which will help him.

My conclusion.  He made some good points on Iraq and our foreign policy in general, but he's not polished enough when it comes to Q & A's on this matter.

The speech was very good.  I was actually suprised at how well he delivered the speech.

True, true.  But he is a lot more folksy than people give him credit to be (myself included).  Some parts of his speech were very funny and witty.  You're right though.  He is not a top notch bullsh**ter like Clinton and he doesnt have the Rock Star/Minister stage presence that Obama has.

I recorded the show (I love my DVR) and watched about a half hour. He seemed very comfortable and threw in a few jokes. I like the guy, would consider voting for him if the GOP put up a Chuck Hagel type and even if he was to run against and beat someone I strongly support, I don't see a Warner Presidency as a bad thing. I still don't see him getting far in the primaries though. Another thing - I noticed for the first time tonight how irritating his voice is.

Yeah, he sorta' has a 'smoker voice'.  I dont think its that annoying though.  In a way it makes him sound a little meaner/stronger.

"And by all means, leave your cell phones on because when you hear ring-ring.  I hear ka-ching ka-ching."

I thought that line was pretty funny.

of course not.

but in fairness to warner, dont compare him to someone who defied all the odds and defeated the ever-popular alan keyes.

all politicans cant be as great as that.
