They are only called rabbits when you eat them.  Otherwise they are called bun buns.

they breed like rabbits!

I have 3 rabbit stories.

1.The "campus" around Stratcom is several acres of grass and parking lots.  I was out smoking one night and I heard a russle from some bushes and turn to look at them just as a rabbit comes flying out of them at full speed, right into my ankle.  Flopped over, shook once and then was still.  As I was decompressing that odd experience, I notice a fox strolling the other direction out of the bushes.  I assume the fox was chasing the rabbit and the rabbit was running a path he'd ran many times at full speed with no problem....until that day when my ankle was there.  I came back out a few hours later and the rabbit was gone, either he was just knocked out or the fox came back after I went inside.

2.Our previous cat was an indoor/outdoor cat (many people whitnessed her looking both ways before crossing the street....this was a smart cat) and she was a professional killer of rabbits.  There are rabbits all over my neighborhood, but none within 200 yards of my house.

3.at least until she died.  There still aren't many, but I did find these three young bunnies in my back yard a couple of years ago

it seems my dogs have taken up the sport too.

Extremely adorable. I don't know how anybody can eat them or make violent children's books/movies about them. If you have never heard about 'Watership Down,' google it. The only downside is that I'm allergic to them.

Complete pests. Our bilbies have lost burrows to them (and are going the way of the dodo as a result) and they cause untold damage to crops.

rabbits are wonderful.   I had a rabbit in high school, originally it was my sisters', but then she left for college so I took care of it, and we got a big wood and wire two-level cage we put outside where she could hop around with cedar and pine shaving. she made this funny little bzzz sound when she hopped around excited.
