Which is why they want the most electable, rather than the one who shares their views the most?

It seems like if Dems thought trump was toast, they’d be more open to nominating a more ideological, bold candidate who could be seen as riskier.

The lie of electability is a frequent thing used as the excuse for why people support a candidate. Be it an open contest or vs an incumbent. I shouldn't read too much into it in terms of anything other than just wanting to just win in general.
