Republican getting 46% in 63% Hispanic and 7% Black BIG city? Not bad, really. What's so special about him? He seemed to be standard fiscal (mostly) conservative to me....

Republican getting 46% in 63% Hispanic and 7% Black BIG city? Not bad, really. What's so special about him? He seemed to be standard fiscal (mostly) conservative to me....

Low turnout, off year, no parties listed on ballot. My defacto Republican city councilman won 80-20 in a city council district that Beto also won, but turnout was under 10% and no parties were listed. Is it pleasant or fun? Hell no, but it is not very indicative either.

san antonio is like 70% suburbs ...
low turnout in an off-year, off-month, off-day election...
hispanic turnout is always low...
I don't see how the black % is relevant considering it's actually far lower than the average for a large city...
