This probably belongs here.

The direct popular vote should be abolished. Return to electors appointed by state legislatures.

Upper class white liberals helped contribute to some extent to the current increase in violence against minorities and immigrants, doing the equivalent of hitting a hornets nest by writing article after article essentially gloating about outbreeding cons, using already marginalized people as a useful tool ("they have to vote for us because the other side is worse" mentality) and nothing else without actual concern for actually improving their lives.

Democrats need an embracing and expanding of the Christian Left within the party that brings goodwill towards others, inclusion, stewardship of the environment, and basic human welfare instead of ceding the faith to the far right, who are only interested in using Christianity as some sort of "cultural" identity rather than caring about any teachings if certain elements of the population are to be broken of their present right wing brainwashed state.

Political exposé books are useless other than as profit machines for the author, rather than being anything that will change minds, because the only people who buy them already believe everything that's in them beforehand.

If this hypothetically continues into November Trump is f2cked

My unpopular take is if this lasts into November there's going to be a massive turnout reduction, with urban areas potentially taking the biggest hits (and swinging hardest to Trump) as most voters who take public transportation aren't able to make it to the polls.

"Cancel culture" is nothing more than a term invented by the same people who tried to weaponize boycotts that are now finding themselves on the receiving end of them.

A Romney victory in 2012 would have likely halted this level of radicalization within the GOP.

Biden's vaccine rollout plan is not only going to make the situation worse, but lead to an explosion of antivaxxers as they watch and see them fail to actually work.

Dems on this forum have removed any doubt that they are angry and jealous because they want to get away with the same thing Republicans can--not because they give a sh**t about America or democracy or anybody's rights.

This take desperately needs to be more popular.

This is not a vice.

Then the fascists have already won and there is no point voting Democrat.

Democrats barely even won, this is a fundamentally center right wing republican country

This is a thread for unpopular takes, not objectively false statements. Dems have won the PV in all but one election in the last quarter century. The only reason Republicans have so much power is because the House and state legislatures are so heavily gerrymandered that Dems need to win almost 60% of the vote just to break even in many states.

Democrats are no better than Republicans when it comes to worshipping political figures and emotionally handling criticism of them.

There is no non-selfish reason for supporting continued DST.

The US provoked Japan into attacking by embargoing a country that had done nothing to us. Before you get upset and start screaming that I'm a fascist, stop and think about one thing. How would the US respond if someone tried to cut off our oil supply? If you said anything different than "bomb them into dirt" I suggest you visit a proctologist because you seem to have your head stuck up your rectum.

This is a highly deranged and sociopathic take that shows moral failure and historical illiteracy

That Pearl Harbor was in part a retaliation for the embargo--seen as an act of war in a war which we were officially neutral--is an objective fact regardless of what morals you want to apply and how just the embargo was or wasn't.

There is nothing immoral with getting sterilized or taking other actions designed to prevent oneself from having children, and then lying about it in a relationship to someone who wants children.

The inverse is of course still immoral though.

So you think it's perfectly acceptable to manipulate someone into a relationship?

Dems obsession with attacking 'wokeness' rather than countering the dangerous narrative coming from Republicans is nothing more than the latest act of turning their guns on the very people who they claim to stand up for.

They're either too cowardly, or too lazy, to actually counter anything Republicans are saying and launch a real ad offensive--and if they lose the next election, this will be the root cause.

I have two regarding social media:

This forum actually helps improve my mental health, giving me a place to debate otherwise troubling topics (or simply vent) without worrying people won't like me, as it's set aside purely for that purpose

On the flipside, twitter is actually a good place if you're willing to put in the work (banned word lists) to root out all the political idiocy from all sides that it's helped breed--especially if you have somewhat niche hobbies, or otherwise have social difficulties/anxiety

Coming to the defense of a friend who is being an asshole doesn't make them look any better, it just makes you look like just as big of one
