Well yes, I read that part, but I don't see what the purpose in doing this is.  Why do these records need to be public?

But wasting taxpayer money is never 'useful.' Smiley

With all due respect, Tupac was prolly the least-thuggish out of most modern day rappers. A lot of his quotes are pretty dumb, but he was about as far away from 50 Cent as you could get for West Coast rap.

thugs - code word used by Southern Racists in lieu of their favorite term, the 'N-word'.  Too soon yet to start bandying that one about in public.  We're getting close, but not just yet!  (Jake, this means you - just wait a bit, you're jumping the gun)

Cynthia McKinney cares about some issues that are not important to the mainstream.  Many in the mainstream would like to attempt to marginalize those on the margins and keep those who feel disenfranchised from participating in the political process.  Tupac was a poet, and his lyrics spoke to a generation of youth who feel that his history is worth preserving.

Tupac has achieved minor-diety status with a wide swath of disaffected US citizens.  Cynthia speaks for all of us when she attempts to bring marginalized issues into the light.  And when she attempts to preserve the works and words and thoughts and history of one who spent his life giving voice and wisdom to those who most need to hear thoughtful words, she is doing the nation's business, as it should be done.

I will be contributing to McKinney's opponent next year, whomever that may be.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:h4209:

To temporarily deny Federal assistance to the City of Gretna Police Department, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Crescent City Connection Division Police Department in the State of Louisiana for their maltreatment of individuals seeking aid during the Hurricane Katrina crisis, and for other purposes.

Of course I doubt this bill will pass. But this is still a stupid bill and so is McKinney for proposing it.

Well, I for one am glad that Ms. McKinney stands up for the oppressed and for disaster victims who are mistreated by the very authority figures who are supposed to be helping them.  These are the same authorities whose salaries are paid by their tax dollars.  Ms. McKinney's salary is also paid by their tax dollars, and if she is doing anything less than standing up in the halls of Congress and fighting for you and me especially for whoever is in her constituency, then she is NOT doing the job she was elected to do.  She is doing a FINE job as a Congress person, AGAIN.  And I will be sending her money for her re-election campain, AGAIN.

So there, hmph.
