Yes. Democracy is the best form of government, or at least the least bad.

I'm a bit confused by what you're saying here.  Is Democracy the best political system or not?

If I had been asked this question in 1995, I would have answered in the affirmative. Now I answer in the negative.

This is one of those un-PC answers that some people may say is racist or whatever, but you need to have an educated/literate populace and a healthy civic culture before you're ready to be a democracy. An attempt at a representative government in the middle ages where the overwhelming majority of voters would have been illiterate peasants simply would not have worked. By the same token it's the same reason I don't think we should impose democratic governments on the Middle East for example.

People who make $100,000 a year are literally in the global 1% and make up much of membership on Atlas. Is it a shock they would be so classist towards people in the Third World?

So someone give me a non-reactionary/racist reason for why the residents of certain parts of the world deserve something that isn't democracy.
It's not that they don't deserve democracy, it's just that their social order is simply antagonistic to wishy washy western liberalism that rich bougie Democrats Manhattan think they can impart on places like Waziristan.

Tbf brah I'm working class in TN and I think that too. America was never better than when we were bringing freedom to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan, and happy to do so.

The dictators can all go f!ck themselves, along with the theocrats, monarchists, communists, Nazis, and every other undemocratic form of government that the man has used to steal from the individualists and the makers in an attempt to collectivize people into a faceless mass throughout history.

"Deserve"? I don't see how anyone can seriously argue otherwise unless they're just authoritarians. Usually the more respectable anti-democratic arguments run along the lines of "yes, they should have it, but they're not ready, or it just wouldn't work because of reasons X and Y". Those arguments also usually break apart under scrutiny, but at least they aren't as nakedly evil as saying some people don't deserve democracy.

Yeah, the only reason I see for the many no votes is people who think that democracy is not good, actually (which is wrong, of course).

Deserve? Yeah, I believe most humans are inherently good enough to "deserve" it. Ready for democracy? No, not yet.

I will fight you

Yes, but it is impossible under neoliberalism or the state capitalist model.

I don't see why they would. We're not a democracy and we're fine.

The way that this question is phrased has some very sinister neocon implications, along the lines of it being the "free world's burden" to invade every country that NATO doesn't like and install their idea of democracy there. Obviously I think that some form of democracy is an ideal that everyone should strive for, but that shouldn't be framed in a way that enables the John Boltons of the world.

I wouldn't mind Autocracy if some like Google was running the show.

And they had DNA implanted chips in your skull to monitor your behaviour.

One bank - Google Pay.

I love the way Google accounts don't get hacked.

The world does deserve liberal representative democracy, and we would all be better off if it were filled with such democracies.  Just so long as it isn't imposed at the end of a gun.
