Trudeau was asked about Trump's clearing of protestors with tear gas and threats to use the military against the protestors, and he stood silently figuring out which words he could use to not trigger Trump for literally 20 to 21 seconds. Translated from Canadian that roughly means something like "Trump is a piece of s___".

Being criticised for his "cowardice" by some, though your reasoning behind it is likely correct.

Those people are idiots. Canada has always needed to pull it's punches and be delicate with America, as our foreign policy and international trade both have heavy stakes in a positive Canada-USA relationship.

Agreed. I'm not inclined to cut Trudeau any slack and I usually find myself agreeing with Singh and the NDP's criticisms of him, but in this case I honestly can't think of a better response. Any Canadian PM who isn't dangerously incompetent knows that keeping a good relationship with the US, and the President in particular, is a top foreign policy priority. Doing so when said President is as volatile, malevolent, and vengeful as Trump is pretty much mandatory.

I will say, though, that the pause itself had a somewhat melodramatic performativity to it. You can take the man out of drama class ...

There's a guy in my town that I see out in public maybe two or three times per year, and he always wears a custom red MAGA hat that says "Make Trudeau A Drama Teacher Again".

First Nations chief shown being punched by Canadian police in video
Quote
Canadian police tackled and punched a prominent First Nations chief in the parking lot of a casino as they accused him of resisting arrest.

On Saturday, Chief Allan Adam of Fort Chipewyan First Nation in Alberta alleged he was assaulted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) during the incident in early March. It began over an allegation of an expired licence plate but quickly escalated into what Adam claims was a clearcut instance of excessive force.

It was the election for non permanent seats on the UN Security Council. In its group of countries, Canada was seeking a seat, with Norway and Ireland the other candidates.

Two seats were available and 128 votes were needed to win. Norway got 130 votes, Ireland 128 and Canada 108 votes.

Last time Canada tried to win a seat was in 2010 (under Harper) and it failed.

I like Jagmeet Singh more and more every day.

He also today called out Trudeau on the show Power And Politics for implimenting even less improvements on policy discrimination amd violence than Trump has.

I have a lesser opinion of Singh. Calling someone racist is a serious accusation. Maybe he was angry there was no all party consent for his motion but he didn't change after cooling down. The Bloc supported the study of racism in the RCMP in committee.

He awarded a government contract to a group that paid his relatives significant sums of money. Pretty simple as far as corruption scandals go.

Ah okay, he gave them a government contract. This is pathetic. Things are almost perfect for Trudeau rught now. All he has to do is not make big blunders and he'll stay PM until 2022 or later. But no, he insists on blundering.
