This would be impressive were it an 8th grade MUN proposal.

I once got to play Iran in a MUN debate on Israel/Palestine. IIRC the solution we came was waaay to Palestine-friendly because we (me, guy playing Gaddafi Libya, and some other person) managed to convince everyone that UNSCR 242 was totally legally binding and the UN would basically invade if Israel didn't withdraw from the West Bank and the Goland Heights. We even negotiated Israel allowing unhindered transit between the West Bank and Gaza.

Probably about as likely as Kushner's proposal, if I'm honest

Well, at least we wouldn't have to deal with him anymore.

The RAND Corporation came up with a proposal for that that was basically an easement through the Sinai Desert that would be used for a highway and high-speed rail. It would function like transit between West Germany and West Berlin did during the Cold War: you got on the highway and could only stop at little self-contained gas station/rest stop islands until you reached the other territory.

Everyone just move over part of a country. Well, it happened with Poland after World War 2, but that's not exactly normal.

yeah?  Perfect for luxury housing developments, malls, and indoor ski resorts!

Also, Jared Kushner is probably the antichrist.

Why don’t we take the borders, and push them somewhere else!

They'd trade desert to Jordan for two Red Sea islands from Egypt. It's Egypt who seemingly gets nothing - unless they want Gaza back (and I doubt they would).

White westerners drawing (and then redrawing) the lines on a map always solves everything, you see.

I can confirm that this is true being active in a current leadership position at my local MUN events, most resolutions make way more sense and are more passable than anything Donald Trump has ever done.

I'm sure Jordan would gladly exchange its most valuable land for a patch of desert.

What on earth is this proposal?

It's like the Alsace-Lorraine mess post-WW1. Seriously, this kind of mix and match land exchange only leads to further grievances as people find themselves dropped in new countries.

Look at Europe post WW1, post WW2. Look at basically any territory the British Empire ceded back to local control. Look at the India-Pakistan border, with its enclaves, and enclaves within enclaves.

Borders are incredibly emotive, and whenever someone (usually a drunk British aristocrat) draws new lines on a map to curry political favour, people divide into new factions, and lives are lost.

The idea of dragging countries in the Middle-East, perhaps the most volatile region on earth, into a border dispute is unfathomably nerve-wracking.

Wasn't it a Western plan that screwed up the Middle East in the first place?

Exactly. We blunder in, impose our will and leave again.
We should be advisers, not colonists.

That was the Sykes-Picot agreement where the British and the French split up the middle east into spheres of influence after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. That agreement ignored ethnic lines and created a lot of conflict in that region.

This sounds like it could be a proposal put forward by Chicolini in a Marx Bros movie.

That's the one.
