How does the 2000 election turn out if 9/11 happend on September 11, 2000? A landslide for Gore since Clinton is the incumbent prez?

Then my memory of it being in 2000 instead of 2001 would have been correct. Seriously, for the longest time I thought it was in 2000 and not 2001

I think a landslide for W. Republicans campaign on '8 years of Clinton/Gore decimated our military, and nobody in the world respects us. Carter gave us Iran and Clinton/Gore gave us 9/11'.

True, there is some rally around the flag (ie incumbent) sentiment, but I think thats smaller in this situation. The election also turns on foreign policy with both candidates out-jingoing each other and Gore cant campaign on '8 years of prosperity'.
