Most Democrats who are currently running for President or exploring a run expressed an opinion on free trade in 2016, about Obama's major achievement of the TPP. Let's see what they said.

Bernie Sanders: The anti-immigrant nativist vigorously opposed the TPP, consistent with his long-history of poorly disguised welfare for whites style politics.

Jeff Merkley: Sanders-lite.

Tulsi Gabbard: Dumpster fire candidate.

Sherrod Brown: Protectionist as Hell.

Elizabeth Warren: Warren also used the same lies, and should be rejected outright.

Kamala Harris: Kamala Harris told reporters that she opposed the TPP trade pact because it didn't offer sufficient worker protections, an obnoxiously false attempt at pandering that beats out Sanders merely because she was dogwhistling a bit less than him.

Kirsten Gillibrand: Keeping with a long record of protectionism, Gillibrand refused to support Obama's legislative work.

Cory Booker: Fake "liberal" Cory Booker pretends he's for the American people and reasonable trade policies, but when the going gets tough, Cory gets going and resorts to the same old bullsh**t about "protecting American workers" (read: Obama-Trump voters).

Amy Klobuchar: Klobuchar has repeatedly opposed any free trade, although she at least has the excuse of running for election in a competitive swing state.

Pete Buttigieg: No on-record statements.

Jay Inslee: A solid candidate, Inslee actually understands how trade works. He didn't publicly support, but at least he didn't oppose it.

Julian Castro: Castro, in a bold move, came out in support of the TPP. Major props for that.

John Delaney: Delaney is also pro-TPP.

Joe Biden: Obama's VP obviously supported the TPP. A good candidate on this issue, at least.

Michael Bennett: Bennett is a vigorous fighter for the American people and a strong supporter of free trade.

And finally,

Beto O'Rourke: The only major Democrat with a shred of moral courage on more than one issue, Beto O'Rourke supported the TPP, and paid a strong political price for it. He is the candidate for actual Democrats, not Hofoid style pro-choice fascists.

How dare Democrats oppose corporate written trade deals that promote outsourcing and side with organized label. Just because Trump is clueless on how to do trade deals doesn’t make every free trade deal good.

How dare Democrats oppose Obama's signature trade deals that promoted non-manufacturing and side with protectionists. Trump is clueless on how to do trade deals and every free trade deal is good.
The TPP was a crucial tool of American foreign policy and would have been immensely beneficial to American consumers and workers. The Democratic party should not abandon popular positions in a failed attempt to pander to voters who will vote Trump regardless.

And the realignment continues.

Democrats can campaign on protectionism all they want, but they were born a free trade party, their special interests love free trade and all of their Presidents have supported Free trade with maybe one or two exceptions or were the less protectionist option compared to the opposition.

We know how this rodeo is going to play out folks.

As I said in my (deleted for some reason) comment, not all socialists are pro-choice, I believe for example there is a S-MA poster here who is anti abortion. Could be mistaken.

Free trade = good

Unregulated free trade = bad

Tariffs = usually bad

Cooperation to ensure worker safety, consumer safety, environmental safety and fair competition as part of a trade deal = good.

So then, clearly, the TPP= good, and Democrats in safe Democratic districts who opposed it are either morons or cowards, both of which should disqualify someone from the Presidency.
