Blaming the people rather than the system has to be peak neoliberalism.
The system is built and supported by the people....
It's almost as untrue in America as it is in Russia.

Lol no , Russia’s is a dictatorship, America is a democracy .

No it isn't.

Except whenever we point out the decidedly undemocratic institutions created and/or championed by your party, then it’s always “buh republic not democrasee”

The Electoral College are no more less Democratic than Parliamentary Systems are.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

That depends on the voting system the parliamentary democracy is using.

Proportional Systems while in theory are more Democratic in reality they are not more Democratic Either unless the coalitions are made before election time.

Its much easier for the incumbent party to hang on to power in a Proportional System than FPTP.

My conception of the American electorate at large consists of envisioning the average voter as a somebody that makes the front pages at r/insanepeoplefacebook.

Horrible in nearly every way: they're shallow and ill-informed. And that goes for a lot of fellow Democratic voters too. The fact that voter turnout in our country is so low is as much of a positive as it is a negative in spite of what I said here.
This. Also hate how the Democratic primary is being played out like a NSYNC vs. Backstreet Boys schoolyard brawl. People are too attached and treat candidates like Stan treated Eminem.

Ofc this is nothing to the sheer stupidity of all Trump voters.

Yeah politicians becoming synonymous with celebrities is one of the bigger, clearer problems with our electoral system. As much as I may like him, Obama may have been one of the biggest culprits in this regard.

No matter how low my opinion of the people gets, my opinion of the system is consistently lower still.

Yep. Couldn't have said it better myself

It hasn't been good since the 1990s, this forum is a microcosm of that.

The American electorate has been a Horrible Electorate since the 1950s, and European electorates have been Horrible Electorates since the 00s. Western Europe had Freedom Electorates in 1945-2001. I think lead screwed up the American Electorate.

Its low. From the conservative knuckle-dragging hillbillies to the swingy coddled suburbanite tools to the latte liberal wankers. The US is devoid of nuance, and is basically just "My tribe vs their tribe".
