Has gotten better over time, but still needs some more pushing for real grand candidates, such as Barbara Lee or at least Elizabeth Warren, are possible presidents. I am hopeful that activism and direct action are gaining traction among the youth today as a way to stop horrendous legislation.

The electorate as a whole more often makes the right choice, or at least an understandable one. The political class of activists, journalists, donors, social media hacks, and voters in low turnout events like caucuses or conventions, on the other hand... have awful instincts to a shockingly improbable degree and have been steadily pushing this country down the drain since at least about 2000.

Horrible in nearly every way: they're shallow and ill-informed. And that goes for a lot of fellow Democratic voters too. The fact that voter turnout in our country is so low is as much of a positive as it is a negative in spite of what I said here.

This. Also hate how the Democratic primary is being played out like a NSYNC vs. Backstreet Boys schoolyard brawl. People are too attached and treat candidates like Stan treated Eminem.

Ofc this is nothing to the sheer stupidity of all Trump voters.

Often decides how to vote based on the most inane reasons. That applies to Republicans and Democrats alike, and perhaps even more to the so-called "moderates" and "Independents."

Very poor. That goes regardless of who happens to be ahead in the polls or leading the government.

Horrible, but no worse than any other electorate.

The real problem is the corrupt campaign finance system.

It would be better if they're less partisan, and vote even more for populist candidates who can bring someone new on the table. The elections are often too predictable (esp. in safe R and safe D states). I'd wish they rejected corrupt & obviously flawed candidates (Menendez, Feinstein, Clinton as nominee and all) even more. Maybe we wouldn't have had Donald Trump as president, but Bernie Sanders instead.

I still voted for Freedom Electorate, because the problem isn't the voters, but the corrupt finance system, the politicians and the system and both parties. I'd just wish people were more informed in general.

Incredibly ill-informed and all too willing to blame their problems on a convenient scapegoat and/or institutions/people that actually do engage with the political process whether or not they're at fault.

But still, I voted freedom electorate since I think voters generally do have good intentions.

Blaming the people rather than the system has to be peak neoliberalism.

It's almost as untrue in America as it is in Russia.

Regretfully it's true in Russia. Our mentality and traditions are mostly responsible for prevalence of autocracy and "tsarism" in Russia. It's difficult to imagine someone like Putin, even less - Stalin, in modern England, for example (with it's hundreds years old democratic tradition), but it's almost "normal" in Russia and - for most of Russian people. American system is direct result of mentality and traditions of American people, and it is such because people are what they are.

No matter how low my opinion of the people gets, my opinion of the system is consistently lower still.
