President Bush Concession Speech:

[Applause]

Thank you! Thank you!

I have just called Senator Kerry to congratulate him on his election victory.  While this is not the outcome we had fought for, we accept it. It has been an honor to be your President and to have represented all of you during this campaign. I would also like to take this moment to thank my family, Laura, my parents, Jeb, Barbara, and Jenna. I would also like to thank Dick Cheney for having been a great vice president for the past four years. Last, I would like to thank Karl Rove, Mark McKinnon, Karen Hughes, Ken Mehlman and our entire campaign staff for working effortlessly to win this election. I will work with Senator Kerry's transition team to ensure a smooth transition of power. Now I would like to call on all of us to let Senator Kerry govern with an open mind. I hope that Senator Kerry will be a very successful President. We must remember that these are difficult times for our country, and a time when we have to be united. Thank you and God Bless America!

You mean it's not Bill Weld!!!!!! Who would have thought Kerry had a better chance than Weld to become President.

[Applause]

Thank you! Thank you! A short while back, I received a phone call from President Bush expressing his congratulations. President Bush ran a very tough campaign. I would like to thank Mary Beth Cahill and our campaign staff, I would like to thank John Edwards for being an amazing running mate. I would like to thank my wife Teresa and my children, Vanessa and Alexandra, for being supportive of our campaign and working on it effortlessly. But now, we must move to mend the divides that we created in this campaign. We have been faced with great challenges in the past four years. These are difficult times for our nation. However, as Americans we must come together to face these challenges. However, we cannot ignore the challenges in our own country either. We have placed limits on crucial life-saving stem cell research. We have failed to pass adequate gun reform. We need to fight for a clean environment, and we need to fix the system of healthcare in this nation. Our nation has many problems and we have to come together to solve them. I will be ready to fight these challenges here at home and overseas. I will work with NATO to contain terrorism in the Middle East. I will defend our nation from overseas threats. On the domestic front, I will work to combat our unaddressed problems.I hope that all Americans can join me in a creating a better future for our country. Thank you and God Bless America!
