Election Night 2020
with your hosts, Lester Holt and Chuck Todd

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyuAH0RWV4s&list=PL-fWJBYKsR_41IOcwGYpBDqw_H-o1c84q

Holt: And we're back, as it's now 12:03 AM in the east, and we can make another projection.

JOHN KERRY WINS THE ARIZONA DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY

Todd: A surprisingly close race for Senator Kerry following a hard last-minute push by Governor Sink. With this call, we are now only awaiting results from the Pacific territories. Stay tuned.

Election Night 2020
with your hosts, Lester Holt and Chuck Todd

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyuAH0RWV4s&list=PL-fWJBYKsR_41IOcwGYpBDqw_H-o1c84q

Holt: And we're back, as it's now 6 AM in the east, and we can make our final projections.

ALEX SINK WINS THE GUAM DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY

ALEX SINK WINS THE NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY

LISA MURKOWSKI WINS THE GUAM REPUBLICAN PRIMARY

LISA MURKOWSKI WINS THE NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS REPUBLICAN PRIMARY

Todd: And that is all for tonight, but before we *yawn* go, we have a few news reports already in from other outlets regarding the results.

Holt: That's right, Chuck. First off, Sink's massive victory in Florida will catapult her back into serious contention for the nomination, while Kerry is leaving the night disappointed, but likely not beaten.

Todd: And on the Republican side, Scott gets what he needs to stay in the game, while Santorum struggles in a state he was supposed to win big. This, combined with a quiet candidate, leads many to wonder if the Santorum campaign might be fizzling out.

Holt: Regardless, however, as usual, final results and delegate totals will be out shortly. Thanks for tuning in to today's edition of...

Both: Election Night in America!

Phil Scott Remarks at MSU Bozeman

(March 31st, Major Excerpt)

Thank you MSU! Wow! This really is Big Sky Country!

(Big cheer)

This is amazing, thank you! Wow!

(Cheers, clapping)

When we started this campaign, most people didn't know who I was.

(Laughs)

Well, I can't help but say I'm glad to see that's changed.

(Laughs)

Thank you Montanans! Thank you Republicans!

(Cheers)

They said not to come here, the pundits, the spin artists, I spoke to a staffer for Senator Steve Daines.

(Cheers)

He said not to waste my time here at MSU. Said it was full of people who weren't interested.

(Boos)

Glad to see he was wrong!

(Big cheer)

This campaign is going places, did you all see Florida?

(Cheers)

Yeah, 10 points, who say that coming? Not the pundits, not the establishment. Thank you Florida!

(Cheers, chant FLORIDA FLORIDA FLORIDA)

Wooo! But yeah, the establishment laughed us off when we started this campaign, this movement of people and ideas. They laughed and said, he's got no shot, he'll get 3% in Iowa, and maybe second in New Hampshire, and then he'll drop. They thought they could get me back in line, kick me out of the discussion. Well...

(Cheers, chant PHIL PHIL PHIL PHIL)

Well, we nearly won Iowa, then we won New Hampshire big. And we've won many many states since. Maine, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Florida, Illinois, and of course good old Vermont. And you know what's next, say it with me!

(MONTANA!)

My friends, I hope to say in a few days, that Big Sky Country is SCOTT COUNTRY.

(Big cheer, chant PHIL PHIL PHIL PHIL)

This is a campaign of principles and ideas my friends. And we stared the establishment politicians in the eyes and we said, we will protect social security, and we will invest in our infrastructure. They said no chance, no chance. We said, we'll see about that. And you know what, we've seen. People across this country agree, Washington isn't working. It doesn't work for working families, it doesn't work for single moms, like my own mom was, it doesn't work for farmers, and you know what, it sure as hell doesn't work for students!

(Cheer)

When it comes to colleges, we have a crisis. Massive student debt, skyrocketing interest rates, and a generation floored by debts. And they can even count on Washington to keep their social security solvent, or keep their Medicare intact. When we get to the White House, we're gonna bring the big banks, and the student loan companies in line. We're gonna put students before multinational banks. And we're sure as hell not gonna let you all drown in debt. We're gonna stop lobbyists from writing bills, and we're gonna open up new loans from all kinds of private sources. Low interest, affordable loans. I think that is common sense policy.

(Cheers)

But Washington isn't working, the lobbyists are writing the bills, for who knew, the industries they lobby for! Senator Rehberg, proud he's here with me, he's gonna fight. And he's gonna help get these bills passed, break through Washington gridlock, get results. This is the results team everyone!

(Rehberg and Scott reach arms around shoulders, big cheer)

ALEX SINK REVEALS NEW ORGANIZATION

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO

Albuquerque, today I gather you all here for an announcement. An announcement that probably won't come as a surprise to a lot of you, but is going to make sure that we win this race. I am a Christian. I am a American. I am a Democrat. In that order. With my beliefs, I believe that every America should have the right to an Affordable America. I believe every American should have the right to Quality, Free, Healthcare. I believe that every American Citizen has the right to not have to worry whether or not their families will survive if they get fired from their job. These are beliefs that shouldn't be rare. These are beliefs that should be expressed in the White House, and that is what I'm doing.

We're going to make these ideas mainstream, because we have to fight this, as a real fight. Not just as ideas that'll never get done. Other candidates are ignoring these major issues, and we're not going to have it. I'm announcing that I will be heading, and assisting with a new organization. The People for Alex Sink. The goal of this is to make these issues mainstream, and finally put them on the front lines of these elections. Let's get out there and organize!

MSNBC News Interview With Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg
March 21, 2020

Maddow: Good evening. I'm Rachel Maddow, and I'm here with former mayor and former presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg. Pete, how are you tonight?

Buttigieg: I'm doing well, Rachel. Happy to be here.

Maddow: Great to hear. Now, as the mayor of a university town (Sink territory) in the Midwest (Brown territory), many would be led to believe that Kerry would be your last choice for an endorsement. What made you choose him?

Buttigieg: I didn't choose the Senator to run, the Senator chose to run himself. I chose to endorse the Senator because he's obviously the best choice, he has more experience then Senator Brown and Governor Sink combined, he's unifying the Democratic party, and he is putting us on a heading to crush whoever the Republicans nominate in November, and take back majorities in Congress.

Maddow: And, no doubt, your shared military background. Moving on, it appears quite likely now that we may be headed to a contested convention. Do you know of any strategies Senator Kerry has in mind to take on such a scenario?

Buttigieg: Well not to delve too deep into details, he has built considerable strength among the State parties, especially recently with the endorsement of the Chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party in Mike Madigan, along with strong support in state's Senator Brown and Governor Sink are expected to do well in. My thoughts on what the Senator could do is, he may not be in 1st place on the first ballot, but on the 2nd he could take the lead and as we keep on going people are gonna flock to the candidate they know, and that is Senator Kerry.

Maddow: Being a former nominee certainly doesn't hurt those chances, does it? More personally, Mayor Pete, many believe that your endorsement was critical to Senator Kerry’s launching ahead of Governor Sink in primary polling. Do you think you might be in line for a Cabinet position, as a result?

Buttigieg: I don't know to be honest, I would be honored to have a cabinet position, but I am also open to running against Congresswoman Walorski or even running for Governor in these up coming elections.

Maddow: Wherever the need is strongest, the Mayor'll be there.

Buttigieg: *chuckles* Oh, God.

Maddow: Next up: recently, Governor Sink has been endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America, and, shortly after, Senator Kerry released an ad touting his capability with achieving bipartisan solutions. Do you believe these two events are linked?

Buttigieg: I don't think these events are linked, Governor Sink is plenty bipartisan, but she is dragging this primary quite far to the left with this endorsement by Democratic Socialists of America. I'm a progressive, but still that endorsement is making me scratch my head and think.

Maddow: The DSA controversy continues. Finally, Mr. Mayor, a more personal question: since concluding your presidential bid and when you haven’t been campaigning for Senator Kerry, you’ve been increasingly engaging Indiana Governor Mike Pence on his anti-LGBT views, particularly his open allowance of discrimination against LGBT people by places of business. Do you believe that, with Senator Kerry in the White House, officials such as Pence will finally be held accountable for these actions?

Buttigieg: What Governor Pence has said is awful, and when Senator Kerry wins, not if. We will hold public officials to a higher standards, I might challenge the Governor in 2020 if I see we have a chance to fight against hatred. I am not just a gay mayor, I am a young mayor, I am a working class mayor, and I am a Hoosier mayor. I have a message for Governor Pence, your words hurt me, they hurt millions of Americans, but they won't stop us. We will fight back, we won't use violence, but we will fight back, and get the rights that God granted us.

Maddow: Pete Buttigieg, thanks so much for being on.

Buttigieg: Glad to be here.

Maddow: And that will be all for tonight. And don't forget to tune in Tuesday night for primary coverage, and to vote if you live in Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nebraska, or South Dakota. I've been Rachel Maddow, and thanks for tuning in.

Lisa Murkowski Runs Ad "What I've Learned" in CO, NM, NE, AR, UT, MN, OR, NY, SD, and MT

"A real highlight of this campaign has been the ability to travel this beautiful nation, meet her people, and hear their concerns, hopes, and desires for the future."

"What I've learned is that Americans across the country have similar wishes from a President, similar concerns for the country, and the same spirit of hope for the future."

"That spirit is what has carried this campaign, but we can't rest just yet."

"We must continue to fight for solutions not the status quo, for a President who listens to concerns and offers solutions, not partisanship. What we need is a leader."

"As President, that's exactly what I'll be, a leader, not more of the same gridlock, mudslinging, and restrictive policies that have come to define Washington."

"I'm Lisa Murkowski, and I approve this message because I've not only heard you, but I've listened."

Lisa Murkowski Re-Airs Ad in UT, CO, NM, NY, NE, SD, AR, MT, OR, MN, and PA

Lisa Murkowski Runs Ad “Enjoyment” in ID, UT, AZ, MO, FL, MI, CO, NM, HI and NY

“Growing up in Alaska, I developed an early love of this country’s wildlife, of our public parks, their natural resources, and our collective enjoyment of them. Whether it be an urban park, to bring in nature into our cities, or more secluded parks designated for us to camp, hike, or hunt.”

”In Congress, I’ve fought to expand our right to enjoy our land in the form of sportsmanship, camping, and allowing for extraction of natural resources to expand our energy portfolio.”

”In fact, in a time of a do nothing Congress with record gridlock, I cosponsored and passed legislation that expands land access. This codifies a priority of mine, ensuring public lands are ours to enjoy.”

”I’m Lisa Murkowski, and I support this message because we need a president who understands and protects our right to enjoy this beautiful country.”

ALEX SINK AD, "WHERE I'M FROM" AIRED IN COLORADO, NEW MEXICO, WASHINGTON, OREGON, RHODE ISLAND, UTAH, PUERTO RICO, WEST VIRGINIA, NEW JERSEY, MINNESOTA, AND OREGON

I was born in a small town in North Carolina.

I grew up into a farm family. My daddy worked hard in the fields, and me and my mother had to help him out due to his arthritis.

We didn't have good healthcare, the quality of care got worse, and so did my dad.

I know where I grew up, and I want our new fathers and mothers, with children, to know where they came from.

When my husband died, I knew where I came from and knew I had to do something about it.

I ran for Governor in 2014, and won. I worked bi-partisanly with Republicans to work for Floridians. We passed comprehensive Immigration Reform, and strengthened our economy.

I'm ready to fight for all Americans, on the Federal Level.

I know where I'm from, and I know where we're going.

We're going to the White House, together.

I'm Governor Alex Sink and I approve this message.

So, since PApolitics has been AFK for 20 days now...

BREAKING NEWS

Holt: Good evening. I'm Lester Holt, and we have breaking news. In a shocking twist to the bruising Republican primaries, former Senator and former Commerce Secretary Rick Santorum has suspended his campaign.

Quote from: Rick Santorum
Look, this is basically guaranteed to go to a convention fight at this point. I'm still in fourth, so I'll be hitting that fight at a disadvantage, and I'm not really feeling a fight, anyway. So, it is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the suspension of my campaign for the presidency of the United States. I will not be endorsing any of my opponents immediately, but I am open to the possibility prior to the convention. I would like to thanks all my supporters, everyone who donated, everyone who volunteered, and especially everyone who voted for me. You've all been wonderful. Thank you!

Holt: And that will be that for a major candidacy in this race, as the remaining three Republicans continue the fight, which will culminate tomorrow in another set of primaries. Thanks for tuning in, and good night.

Lisa Murkowski Surrogate Schedule and GOTV

Arkansas

Bob Corker began the Arkansas outreach, primarily touring the suburbs around Memphis, including the cities of Jonesboro, Conway, and Pine Bluff. Kay Bailey Hutchison joined her former colleague on the other side of the state, focusing on the areas bordering Texas. She did a tour stretching from Texarkana to Little Rock, speaking on Murkowski’s public land focus, second amendment support, and fiscal conservatism. In Little Rock, she was joined by Corker to GOTV on Election Day, focusing on outreach to women, moderates, and libertarian leaning voters in the area.

Colorado

Colorado was well travelled by the campaign, the candidate herself, and surrogates. After a joint rally with Lisa Murkowski, Cynthia Coffman spent her time building off of the Denver ground game set up by the campaign, rallying supporters, phone banking, and canvassing Denver and the surrounding suburbs. Liz Cheney also participated in the Colorado arm of the campaign, touring Fort Collins to Grand Junction, barnstorming for Murkowski in mostly rural and suburban communities key to her support in the state. Murkowski’s position as the Western candidate was highlighted heavily, speaking on her focus on public lands, which are plentiful in Colorado, energy independence, and her position on small government in everything from guns to social issues. Cheney and Coffman each held their own watch party in Fort Collins and Denver, respectively.

New Mexico

The Murkowski campaign, boosted by the support of the last Republican to carry the state, former Governor Susana Martinez, targeted New Mexico heavily. Susana Martinez primarily focused on southern New Mexico, from Las Cruces to Lordsurg, before joining Lisa Murkowski for a rally in Albuquerque. Governor Martinez was joined by former Senator Jeff Flake, from neighboring Arizona. Flake highlighted Murkowski’s maverick nature and how it exemplified a Western spirit. He held rallies in Gallup, met with native leaders in the Zuni reservation, and barnstormed his way to Santa Fe, setting up GOTV efforts there. The campaign held events in Santa Fe and Las Cruces on Election Day, with Flake’s crowd being largely libertarians and fiscal conservatives, while Martinez’s crowd was primarily Latino, with a large number of women, which made up her winning coalition in the state.

South Dakota

The South Dakota turnout machine was split by east and west, with the west led by Liz Cheney, who held events in Rapid City in between events in Colorado. After spending the first half of the week in Nebraska, Senator Chuck Grassley and Governor Kim Reynolds held rallies on the other side of the state in Sioux Falls, spending Election Day there, with Grassley primarily focusing in rural areas and Reynolds focusing on urban turnout. As polls closed, these surrogates returned to to Omaha to watch results come in.

Nebraska

Governor Kim Reynolds and Senator Chuck Grassley began laying the foundation for campaign infrastructure early, focusing efforts in Omaha and the Sioux City suburbs. They were joined by former Governor Bill Graves of neighboring Kansas, who spent most of his time touring the western, more rural part of the state. Finally, the most active surrogate was Senator Deb Fischer, who toured the Sandhills region of the state, focusing on ranchers, before holding rallies in Grand Island, Lincoln, and Omaha. Senator Fischer hosted the watch party, with the other surrogates barnstorming the state, in Omaha, hosting a crowd that included moderate suburban voters, rural libertarian voters, and everything in between.

Utah

Utah included two prominent Murkowski endorsers in former Governor Jon Huntsman and Senator Mia Love, who had laid early groundwork for the caucus. Mia Love focused on Provo and the Salt Lake City suburbs, while Jon Huntsman toured the more rural southern parts of the state, before spearheading GOTV efforts in Salt Lake City. Also in the state was Representative Mike Simpson who held rallies in Logan and Ogden, focusing on fiscal conservatism and the second amendment. He joined Senator Love and Governor Huntsman for the GOTV efforts in Salt Lake City. Lisa Murkowski herself spent most Election Day in Salt Lake City, working to get moderates, libertarian leaners, and suburban voters to the polls, before hosting an election night party with her surrogates in the state.

Sherrod Brown 2020
Rebuild America.

Campaign Ad: Poverty

Quote
"For the past 30 years, working families have found it harder and harder to get out of poverty as the minimum wage hardly budges and the cost of living increases."

Quote
"The reality is that anyone who's tried to pay a heating bill, fill a prescription, or simply buy groceries knows all too well that the current minimum wage doesn't cut the mustard. Only one candidate marches for a $15 minimum wage."

Quote
"Sherrod Brown. He's the only candidate fighting for living wages, a consistent middle class champion hailing from Ohio, rejecting big money because he's not in it for the multi-billionaires, he's in it to rebuild America. For good wages, for us. Sherrod Brown."

Sherrod Brown 2020
Rebuild America.

Campaign Ad: Expand Social Security

Quote
- ad opens with Sherrod Brown talking to seniors -

"When senior poverty is rising, we can't afford to cut benefits or raise the retirement age on social security and medicare. What we need to do is exactly the opposite: we need to expand social security benefits. We can't leave behind seniors that work 9 hours a day, 5 days a week for most of their life, and then tell them they're going to retire into poverty. That is unjust. That is rigged. We need to expand benefits for people who desperately need them, and if we ask the wealthy to pay a fair share into it, we can keep it self-solvent for a century."

- scene cuts to Sherrod Brown for President logo & legal information -
