Abortion becomes illegal in exchange for amnesty and citizenship for everyone in the country.  This is done via constitutional amendment, so neither are likely to be changed for a long, long time.  Do you take this deal?

There is no way this happens.

This is retarded and not even worth theorizing about.

I'd probably say no to any type of "compromise" you make regarding abortion.

Very few people in the country want either of those, and the subset who want either probably aren't the type to compromise on the other.

Arguably the only upside to an abortion ban is to not ever hear ExtremeConservative talk about abortion again, but even that's not guaranteed.

The Grand Compromise of 1863: Banning Secession for Slavery
« on: January 15, 1863, 6:07:46 pm »
Secession becomes illegal in exchange for the legally protected right to own slaves everywhere in the country.  This is done via constitutional amendment, so neither are likely to be changed for a long, long time.  Do you take this deal?

You know this comparison compares

Abortion to Secession
and Amnesty to Slavery

I'm not going to consent to this obvious attempt to divide the Atlasian Left and the Atlasian Center, and therefore I vote Present. ExtremeConservative needs to find better things to do with his time.

Did I make everyone mad, then? Excellent!

I mean, obviously I'm poking fun of "grand bargains" as a concept rather than making specific comparisons between these things, but whatever.

This is probably a worse deal for the Republicans: you can quite easily "undo" an abortion ban, but you can't undo amnesty.

Better option: abortion is kept legal the way it is and fully expanded into all states. ED Medication needs to have written consent by your spouse to be able to be received, not covered by insurance.
