Obama certainly won't endorse until a winner has been decided, but he will surely have his own personal view as far as the best candidate in terms of experience, electability, etc. Who do you think he'll be rooting for? There will be some Obama alums running, and obviously his VP, but I have a feeling he'll be pulling for Beto, as someone who can expand on the Obama coalition and ignite the same passion and hope Obama did in 2008.

I think probably Biden, seeing that he was his VP, he has often praised him, and he considers him to be a friend.

This. Or maybe Kamala. Harris would be the biggest humiliation for Trump to lose against. We know he hates losing, but losing to a black woman would be so painful for him that it gives Obama great comfort. Also, didn't he once publically say how attractive she is?

Obama loves Biden as a person and as his vice president, but I think he wants a younger candidate who can inspire voters.

Not just a black woman, but a biracial black woman from the Bay Area. And yeah, Obama once said she was the best-looking state AG in the country.

I doubt Obama wants Biden to win the nomination that much. He is one who convinced him not to run in 2016 because he didn't want him to ruin his legacy with an humiliating defeat.

Biden or Beto.
Harris is Hillary's choice.

I'm sure he wants Biden to win on a personal level, but he fears what a Biden nomination would do to the party.

If you ask him, he'd probably say that he really thinks his wife would be a better candidate than anyone the Democrats are considering...and he'd be right.

Come on, Obama doesn't care about Biden. Like JG said, Obama put pressure on Biden to stay out in 2016 to clear the field for Hillary.

There was speculation for a while that the Obamas were encouraging Deval Patrick, but I've not heard anything to suggest that he is actually going to run.

I suspect Obama is not terribly invested in who wins the nomination, so long as it is not someone like Sanders who is completely out of step with him.

Kamala Harris, because she presents a future that represents the ideas of the Obama coalition. For Biden's connection with the Obama administration he's a relic of the old Democratic Party that was dominant in the seventies through the eighties. Most voters don't want a old white male being the representative to an largely youth party that is supported by people of color.

With no Patrick running, Beto or Harris.  Beto is very similar to Obama, and he's gushed over Harris in the past.

He treats Biden like his aging dad that he's delicately trying to put in an old folks home.

Sanders and Warren are too left wing for him, Booker publicly criticized him.

Harris. She has no substance and a corporate yuppie elitist just like Obama.

Obama used Biden but he doesn't actually like him that much I don't think. He favored Hillary over him in 2016 and Biden actually would have a been a lot better nominee.
