A lot of poor white people in LA are entertainment industry folks hustling to make it. So I'll say Democrat.

Poor white people vote GOP everywhere because muh culture war.

That's simply not true.

You're assuming that all poor whites are some rural "white trash" stereotype out of IceSpear's mind. There's in fact many poor whites in urban areas too, many of whom are not socially conservative at all. Think of single mothers, recent college grads who haven't landed a good job yet, LGBT people who aren't upper class, etc. Not to mention that a lot of these type of people can't hold a job or get a high paying job because of personal issues and mental illness, this is actually pretty common amongst intersectionalist feminists.

To answer the thread question, Democratic, like all other people in Minneapolis.

Obviously I know poor white people in urban areas vote Democratic. I was being hyperbolic (seems we've had this conversation before).

In MN....least likely to vote.  Probably DFL by several points but broke for Trump.

To the extent there are poor white people in my area (there are certainly low-income white people in my area, but some might not consider them "poor" since their low income is largely voluntary - artists and so forth - and there are a small handful of elderly white poor living in rent-stabilized/controlled housing, other subsidized private housing or public housing), Democratic, maybe the most Democratic demographic in the area actually (or at least competitive with most black voter groups). But with dreadful turnout and probably a lot of Bernie-or-bust people who didn't vote for Clinton.

The only Republicans in DC are rich white men, so Democratic by default.

In Seattle, it's a bit more complicated, and I'd say they generally vote Democratic, but are trending Republican. It depends where you cut off the line of what is "poor" and what is "my area." The fishing industry and Boeing are traditionally heavily Democratic, but today fall into the mythical WWC category, and are likely more up for grabs. Logging has been a bit more Republican, but still competitive. Trump won loggers in a rout, however, judging by some precinct results. That being said, these groups are definitely working class, and not necessarily poor. The abject poor/poverty-stricken whites I doubt participate much in politics, as many have pointed out.

Kind of classes, don't you think? Should we assume by this post you believe poor blacks in your area vote for crack?

I'm just referring to the ones I know, my wife's country kin.  If they vote, I'm sure they'd vote for Trump, but I don't think they vote.  As for poor city white folk, they mostly vote D or further left, though they probably use drugs too, more marijuana though I guess and higher education.  I would guess that poor black people on crack don't vote either.  Don't white people use drugs more than blacks?  Though I guess a distinction should be made between marijuana and other drugs regarding drug use and voting.  Sorry, a bit stream of consciousness, but then, like most people on Atlas I don't have a huge network of poor people to draw from.

In northern Kentucky, poor whites are the Democratic base.

I’ve seen a woman sweep her dirt driveway for hours and another one vacuum her car with an upright vacuum cleaner getting it in all the nooks and crannies at great effort.  These people are definitely voting for meth.

There are very few poor people in general in Williamson County, but they probably vote Republican if they vote.

In Athens, I'd guess Democrat since most poor Whites are either college students, hipsters, or townies.

In my town (Union Beach), most lower income whites (as well as higher income whites) easily voted for Donald Trump. Generally speaking, the two ethnic groups dominant in my town (Irish Americans and Italian Americans) have voted overwhelmingly Republican since 1980 (with the exceptions of 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2012) regardless of their income levels.

LA County: Safe Democratic. Though they did trend towards Republicans in 2016 (excluding poor entertainment-linked whites) while wealthier whites have shifted hard towards the Democrats negating the class divide in LA where upper-middle-class alongside white ethnics (even though they leaned democrats) and Christian Arabs laid the bedrock of the Republican party. These upper-middle-class Republicans are now mostly Democrats.

Area 1: Democratic, because no one votes Republican...unless Dianne Feinstein counts.

Area 2: Republican, only the Humanities Majors think otherwise.

In Bergen County the southern, Meadowlands parts are pretty white and working-class, they would probably qualify the most. They are actually fairly swingy.
