Um, as in what?  The right to vote?  The right to marriage?  The right to be gay?  What do you mean? Huh

Anyway, I voted yes since I think they should be allowed all of the above privileges.

I voted Yes, of course.  What makes you think they don't already have equal rights?

Yes, of course I do.  Gays should be allowed to vote, etc.

No, because they already have them. They need not be a "protected class".

What the hell does "protected class" mean?

What the hell does "protected class" mean?

"protected" through special laws (i.e. hate crime, tax benefits, etc.)

I agree that hate crime legislation is akin to "thoughtcrime," which I'm opposed to.

Let's talk about married people recieving tax breaks for being married. Are they a protected class?

I'm pretty sure that if they let gays marry, they will receive even larger tax breaks than straight couples. You'll see.

Indulge me.  Is this little nugget actually based on any semblance of fact?

Yes, of course, in the sense that they have the same rights they have now.

This question is of course a loaded one, with certain people claiming "rights" where none exist.

I can't imagine it is based on fact.

Indeed. I dislike the vagueness as to what, exactly, a 'right' is. I didn't answer the poll question for this very reason.

However, heterosexuals can marry someone who they are sexually attracted to and get rewarded for it in the form of a tax break. Homosexuals cannot. While this is not necessarily a 'right,' it is a disparity in how different people are treated by the government.

Poorly worded question, so I've voting c) "non-applicable."

Certainly, if we are speaking only about "rights." I do not believe that they should receive special privileges, such as affirmative action, laws banning private discrimination, or laws banning hate speech or hate crimes.
