With this and Warren's candidacy I'm officially giving up on this country.

Isn't this exactly the type of behavior that led conservatives to openly Advocate considering Second Amendment remedies? Just saying.

Ironically, they can't do Second Amendment remedies now because Trump banned their bumpstocks. Checkm8 cons.

So if this happens, is it officially okay to use the F word? I mean, declaring a fake national emergency to circumvent the other branches of government is pretty much the definition of that...

I mean, what parts of this doesn't Trumpism neatly slot into?

This was evident even during the heyday of the Tea Party, which was basically proto-Trumpism.

Who’re they going to use their “Second Amendment remedied” against, anyway? Some random lib on the street? Or the tyrannical state, which will use the security apparatus of the military, national guard, and police to enforce the stte’s will? But, they can’t do that either because they stroke it to “Blue Lives Matter” and the troops. What a conundrum.

Warren's candidacy has been one of the only rays of light in this country over the past few years.

Ironically, having actually experienced police officers abuse their power is what made me pro-gun.

When it comes to the "good/bad guys with guns" dichotomy, cops are often on the wrong side of the fence.  If only the "Blue Lives Matter" folks realized this.

The Trump presidency is a national emergency.

This, but unironically.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m pro-gun as well. Once I have the money, I want to join the Socialist RA. But, these chuds have wet dreams about “Second Amendment remiedies” and “take this gun from my cold dead hands” while worshipping and dropping to their knees for the very same people in power who’d be the ones to strip them of their guns and their rights. It’s illogical.

Anybody willing to bet money Trump does this, keeps it in effect through next year, and uses it to cancel the elections/arrest opponents?

I'd take the no side if I was a betting man.  This is overly paranoid.

I really think that in the last month or two, Trump has really picked up his pace when it comes to following in the footsteps of Mussolini.

The Trump presidency is a national and international emergency.

This, but unironically.

The calamities following the Trump presidency can't be contained within the US.

Well, rightwingers made it very clear there was one very specific target for such "2nd Amendment remedies" when the executive branch made an unconstitutional power grab.

People also said it was overly paranoid when anyone said Trump's win would spread hate, make open white supremacy acceptable, and put the lives of already marginalized people at risk.

In their fantasy, most of the police and military would turn on the government to help overthrow a democratically-elected President and Congress... Imagine how stupid you'd have to be to believe that.

And believing that even the current Supreme Court would allow that might be just a bit of a stretch.

If you're using the word "probably" there's not actually an emergency, there is or there isn't.

This man is an imbecile.

Aside from the ways in which the shutdown has threatened public safety and income security for millions and damaged the competence of our civil service, this whole stunt has been such an incredibly dumb and mishandled at every step. Trump initiated an incredibly unpopular shut down which has forced down his own approval ratings and produced bad press towards sympathetic public employees every single day for a month. A crisis that he started by his own admission in a publicly televised event, no less! He drove down the popularity of the wall and already shattered the (admittedly hollow) image he had as a dealmaker. He's forced members of his own party to either take base-alienating votes to reopen the government (like Gardner did) or take swing-voter-alienating votes to keep it closed. He got himself viciously owned by his arch-rival (Pelosi) in literally the only game he cares about - using empty stunts to gain/lose public favor. And after all of that, he will end up using the same option that we've all known he's had for the last three weeks. He could have used that weeks ago and avoided all of the humiliation, to say nothing of the millions of people that could be working and earning a paycheck, dozens of national parks that could have been open, tax refunds that could have been returned, etc.

I don't care if he lucked his way to a win in 2016. This man has the political instincts of a dish rag. Can't wait for summer of 2020 where I have to read dozens of headlines from moron journalists about how Trump is still likely to win reelection because of his political brilliance. Roll Eyes

Is this all you can think of?  Do you even remotely recognize the gravity of the situation?  We're not opposing this medieval wall willy nilly.  If your people declare a national emergency over this after over a decade of decreasing illegal border crossings, we are going to ensure your type are removed from the political debate and taught as a prime definition of tyranny for a century to come.
