I support line 2; I have my doubts about line 4. Right, I'm not in the House, I'm a senator so if this bill passes in the House it will come to the floor in the Senate, so I think I'm justified in enquiring about this bill.

I personnally think a reduction in temporary work visas could be good, but I don't support eliminating them entirely. I think a better way to address the immigration problem is to adopt a points based system like in Canada rather than eliminate these visas entirely. I'd support scrapping the lottery visa though.

After further analysis, I have decided not to support this bill unless section 4 is taken out of the bill

This same chamber just voted for two pro-immigrant pieces of legislation in the last Congress. Why would we support this? I'll be very happy going on record to vote to defeat this bill.

Other than section 4 what is so bad about this bill

Not a member of either chamber but since others are doing it, okay, here's my two cents:

I'm fine with section 1, ambivalent on section 2, in regards to 3, I'd rather just charge an extra fee for services like AtlasCare but am fine with drivers licenses, and I'm against reducing work visas but am fine (but open to being swayed) with stopping guest worker provisions as listed in 4.

Isn't Section 1 effectively taken care of by Section 4.4 of Come Out of the Shadows?

This bill attempts to cut back on illegal immigration in Atlasia and helps strengthen job opportunities for Atlasian nationals.

1. This should allow employers a much easier way of knowing the immigration status of individual job applicants are before hiring them.
2. This introduces greater disincentives for individuals to break our immigration laws and cross illegally into Atlasia.
3. This allows the Atlasia government not waste money on individuals that do not pay taxes to the government in the first place and encourages individuals to follow our immigration laws.
4. This only allows foreign nationals that have specialty skills to work in Atlasia. This ensures that jobs will not be taken away from Atlasia residents.

If you want to end guest worker programs on account of "ensuring that jobs will not be taken away from Atlasian residents", why the H-1B exception?

I motion for a final vote. Representatives have 24 hours for objections.

With a majority of representatives voting against passing this bill, the vote will close in 24 hours and any Representative who wishes to change his or her vote must do so during that interval.
