Nobody who supports the death penalty does so because it's an easy escape for criminals.

This is something I've never understood.  Anybody with a brain can see that killing a prisoner does not give them much opportunity to realize exactly what they did, perhaps feel remorse, or allow us to truly punish them.  I would prefer to let murderers and rapists et al suffer for as long as they can naturally survive.

99% of prisons today are not what I would classify as suffering to those within their walls.  As someone else has put it quite aptly on this forum, it's akin to vacationing at a bad hotel.

Now, if murderers who were sentenced to life in prison without parole, were made to do hard labor 12-16 hours a day, live in solitary confinement and forbidden from seeing no one from the outside world for the rest of their life, I would certainly give thought to changing my mind on the death penalty, as this would qualify as suffering to me.

I fully agree with everything you said.  Our prisons need to become rat-infested sh**t-holes, or otherwise punishing them is a complete waste of time.

Although not a citizen of your region, I suggest that Northeasterners vote against the marriage bill as well. Jurisdiction over marriage has been absolutely vested in the Atlasian Senate. Semantic games do not allow any region to interfere with federal jurisdiction.

I would rather not waste my tax dollars on keeping such monsters alive; thus I support a death penalty, and a painful one at that for terrorists, treasoners, and serial killers.

I don't care about this topic, but I must chime in to say that those are quite possibly the ugliest banners I have seen yet. Tongue

They're eye-catching, though, which is the point.

Yes, they catch your eyes and then murder them.

Indeed.  I would have one probably, but I am not putting that monstrosity in my signature.

See, MAS, this is what you get for supporting Earl/Reese over Phil/King.

But I don't think Earl has ever called MAS an idiot or a jackass, etc. Wink

I am very disappointed at all the anger towards my plans. I am trying hard to be an effective Governor, but am receiving a lot of criticism. Criticism is ok, but unfortunately, I have received little constructive criticism. I cannot possible reply to all the comments in this thread because of all the posts, but I would like concerned citizens to PM me and IM me so we can discuss how they would like me to do things better. I must say a lot of people have said things that have hurt me.

I am aware, but this seems to be over the top, in my opinion.
