I know, shocking that when Trump and Republicans gut regulations carbon emissions go up and businesses focused only on profit don't do the right thing. I know, really shocking. Roll Eyes

If we want any hope of saving the planet we need to seriously get used to the fact that we must completely draw down industrial civilization over the next 40-50 years, if not even faster.

Big emissions leap from road freight, air travel and construction - all sectors that even countries with relatively decent mitigation plans have difficulty controlling emissions from.

Annualized GDP growth was also higher in 2018 than the previous 20-or-so years.

These things are related.  Good economy means more people/businesses doing and buying stuff, which means more emissions.
