Jon Tester, very easily. He's one of the best current senators. I'm not a fan of Manchin, though he's better than an actual Republican.

Yes, because the former can be bought-and-sold to the highest bidder in a predictable fashion that perpetuates a status-quo that has historically been very kind to people of my socio-economic and racial background.

There certainly is a big difference between Southern and Western political mores.  Politics in the South is very traditionalist, supporting existing power structures and institutions.  Politics in the West tends to be much more individualistic.
