Images for Country rulers will be added once my mouse stops it's double clicking

Player Situations

Kingdom of France

- Your Majesty, the war 12 years ago have left us in debt and nearing bankruptcy each year. Worse yet, it seems that our nation is dealing with multiple poor harvest. How will you handle these crises and turn the situation around?

- The Rebels in North America are quite interesting. Despite the supremacy of the British, they have declared the independence and are fighting for it tooth and nail. It is wise to watch how the course of this “revolution” goes and it is also wise to consider the possibility of supporting the rebels and taking your old enemy, the British, down a peg.

- The remnants of your once vast colonial empire are far and scattered with the most important being Haiti in the Caribbean yet several nations continue to eye this once large empire with greed and at the same time, your empire has shaky foundations. What will you do to salvage your empire before it's too late?

Kingdom of Great Britain

- Your Majesty, it appears that the troublesome colonists of Massachusetts are now in open rebellion. Instead of dispersing, they have laid siege to Boston. What will be your course of action?

- It seems likely that the other colonies will join Massachusetts in its rebellion. Yet many Indian tribes are not on good terms with the colonists. Perhaps they can be persuaded to join the fight . . .

- It is not only in America where radicals have taken control; largely due to religion, penal laws and land ownership, Ireland is likewise in the grips of unrest. How will you respond?

- Your Majesty, there is war in India between the British East India Company and the Maratha Empire. How do you respond?

- Your Majesty, the Kingdom is still short of funds from the war that was 12 years ago and the wars in India and North America will likely continue to be taxing on our national income. How will you deal with the falling economy?

Kingdom of Spain

- Your majesty, it seems that the Portuguese are trying to advance into Buenos Aires and the Rio de la Plata. The city is commercially growing and there also issues with bureaucracy and administration; including that the Buenos Aires traders have to ship their goods through long distances to sanctioned ports. What do you do?

- The War in North America is very interesting to our nation, indeed. It seems that the rebels there might have a chance despite all the odds and it would be interesting to see if the Kingdom could aid them in this war and take some territory from the British as a reward for ourselves. After all, many of your citizens haven’t forgotten the wars between our two kingdoms and the thirst for justice is strong. What will you do?

- Despite the Globe Spanning Empire under your control, the Economy is on a downward spiral due to the mismanagement of the empire for the last few centuries with the colonies becoming more of a burden than a help as the years go on. What will you do to turn this situation around?

Dutch Republic

- Stadtholder, The war in the Americas look to be very interesting. As the British fight against these rebels, nations have began to explore the ideas of supporting the rebels and it seems like a good idea. However, if the rebels were to fail and the British were to find out that we supported them, the response could be swift and brutal. How will you balance these two possibilities?

- Your Empire in the Old World is what is helping the economy stay afloat, with your slowly gaining more and more land in the East Indies while Ceylon remains a key point in the path to Asia and South Africa a key point of trade before going to India. However, there is still room for expansion of this empire. In Africa, the Southern Coasts remain barren and untouched as well as Madagascar and the African Colonies of Portugal could be fine conquests. In India, there is still land not under British suzerainty that could be key in helping you maintain influence in the region and 5he same could be said for Arabia. Finally, there is great potential for expansion into Southeast Asia by conquering the native kingdoms in Indonesia and even battling the Kingdom of Siam for territory. In East Timor, the Portuguese presence is weak and the Spanish Philippines look to be good for a possible imperial expansion. Finally, there is Formosa that could help you bring trade with China. How will you expand your trading empire?

- Portugal and Spain is eyeing Dutch Guyana as a possible route of their own expansion in the Americas and it seems to be more of a burden than a help to us currently, though the embarrassment of losing it in a war would hurt our prestige. What will you do?

Kingdom of Sardinia and Duchy of Savoy

- Your Majesty, the Duchy of Savoy borders France, a long standing enemy of ours. It is well known of the French intent to conquer the Duchy for themselves so they can have land in the Italian Peninsula. However, you have a sudden lack of allies due to all of them being more concerned with other matters across Europe and the Globe. How will you remove the French threat from the equation and keep the duchy safe?

- The kingdom is in a key position, it seems. Despite a lack of allies and the french threat on Savoy, there is a road, however narrow, to the unification of the Peninsula under your rule. Through Diplomacy, Sabotage, and Conquest, the region could be yours in a matter of years if you’re careful. Who will be your allies for this possible road of expansion and unity if you decide to go on it and how will you achieve it?

- Despite the idea seeming foolish, there is way of expansion outside of Europe : West Africa. If you can build up a sizable colonial Empire in the region, you could be a force to be reckoned with and it could help fund your wars of unification if you so choose to take up on them. However, the many natives of the region will resist your attempts of colonization tooth and nail. What will you choose to do?

Kingdom of Portugal

- Your Majesty, despite the unlikelihood of it, the over extension of British forces across several continents due to their wars against the Marathas in India and the Rebels in North America, a rare opportunity has emerged in that you can use British Weakness as a route of expansion for your empire. However, a massive problem is that our two kingdoms have been allies for centuries and such a stab in the back would land a great deal of mistrust for other nations across Europe. This situation will require a delicate touch, so what will you do?

- The Territories of Haiti, French Guinea, and Dutch Guiana look like firm ideas for expansion in the Americas however War is costly and there is a chance it could backfire heavily on us. There is the safer route of expansion in Africa, Southeast Asia, and India, but it will lead to many deaths and will be costly in terms of economic might, despite there being no threat at home. The Empire must continue to expand, however, or it could be outshone by larger empires in the future. What route of expansion will you take?

- In Europe, there remains a giant threat to our sovereignty : Spain. It is no secret that the Spanish have interest in the conquest of our kingdom but we won’t be able to stand long against a Spanish attack due to Britain being preoccupied so we must delay the Spanish as much as possible and find allies elsewhere to help our cause. There are many possible allies to support us with the likely supporters of ours being the Dutch, the Sardinians, the Prussians, and the Austrians. How will you keep your Kingdom alive and well?

Kingdom of Denmark and Norway

- Your Majesty, following the Great Northern War, Sweden has been weakened immensely and with the weakness of the swedes comes an idea : The recreation of the Kalmar Union. The idea that has evaded our kingdom for years now is within our grasp but in order to achieve it, we would need allies, with the most likely supporters being Prussia and Russia. However, conquering Sweden would likely incur the wrath of her allies and drag us into a far longer war than we are prepared for. What is your orders?

- With Britain preoccupied in the Americas and in India and with the sharks circling, now looks to be as good a time as any to join the ever growing coalition against the British to consume pieces of their empire for ourselves. While it would be possible to recruit the aid of Charles Edward Stuart, the Jacobite Pretender, to our cause and aid him in his cause of taking the throne as his birthright, it would be wise to consider that a possible invasion of the British isles will be far more costly than a simple invasion of Rupert’s Land or Jamaica due to how loyal the Isles are to the Hanovers. However, expansion in the Americas would likely be a detriment to our coffers and will only bring us to bankruptcy. What is the card that you will play in this situation?

- Our Micro Empire across the Globe has been both a help and a hindrance, helping us gain wealth in our coffers for decades but now being a detriment to them, many advisers have no idea of what to do with the colonies that we have. Some are suggesting we sell them to the highest bidder while others are suggesting that we use them as springboards to expand our empire. What will you do?

Kingdom of Prussia

- Your Majesty, the Electorate of Hanover looks prime for the taking with.Britain preoccupied in the Americas and at the same time, the Province of Mecklenburg, under the control of the swedes, looks just as vulnerable. You could choose both roads of expansion and take two kingdoms that would be fine additions to your own. However, the conquest of Hanover would cost you the key ally of Britain in the Meantime and that wouldn’t be the best of ideas with the Austrians and Maria Theresa planning the downfall of your kingdom due to taking Silesia from them over 30 years ago. Your kingdom only barely survived the war 12 years ago as it is, so it surviving a war much like that one is unlikely unless you find more allies to aid your cause. What are your suggestions?

- To the East, your former overlords, the Polish, are now under the influence of Russia. A rare opportunity stands before you : Free your former masters from Russia and become their new master or do the opposite and agree to partition the commonwealth with Russia and Austria for the benefit of all three kingdoms. Whatever you choose, it seems that it will be a victory for you unless something terrible is to happen.

- Despite your location in Central Europe not being at all ideal for it, there are some rumblings in the court of creating your own colonial empire in Africa and Asia. After all, you had several colonies that you sold off or just gave up on just decades ago. Which continent will you choose to expand into first and begin the process of creating an empire across the globe for Prussia?

- There are murmurs of anger about your reforms across the country and some even saying that you need to be replaced with a monarch who isn’t so reform happy. How will you deal with these disobedient nobles who are potentially plotting to overthrow you.

Archduchy of Austria

- Archduchess, there are angered citizens across the Archduchy due to the fact you haven’t done any reforms like Catherine of Russia, Frederick of Prussia, Gustav of Sweden, and Charles of Spain while there nobles arguing against any reforms, stating that it would only embolden the populace to demand more reforms. This is delicate situation so what will you take?

- To your north and east remain two enemies and a possible friend for the future. Prussia is, of course, your biggest enemy. After the embarrassment of the Silesian Wars, it has been your sole goal to see that kingdom wiped off the face of the earth and if Frederick foolishly goes to war against Britain without the proper allies, that would be a great time to strike and show the whole of the empire that Habsburg rule is not to be challenged. To your East, Russia under Catherine remains a threat due to their interests in the Balkans, a place the Archduchy has interests in itself. However, the problem of a war with them is that, due to the Empire’s vast size and the large amount of men Catherine can recruit at will, any invasion or war with Russia will be highly costly and possibly even lead to you losing territory of your own to them. There is a silver lining however : the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Under the influence of Russia, they have grown rather weak, no longer the Lion of Europe that they once were. However, if you can aid them in throwing off Russia’s shackles, they will be forever in your debt and a key ally in taking out Prussia for god. There are, though, ideas of a possible partition of the Commonwealth for the gain of Prussia, Russia, and, possibly, the Archduchy. The decision is yours, what path will you take?

- To the South the Ottomans and to the West, Sardinia. Both prime threats to your influence in the Balkans and Italy respectfully. However, the Ottomans have slowly began to decline in power over the last few decades due to less than stellar sultans ruling over them. Some have suggested the idea of allying with Russia to take them down and partition the Balkans, but there are others bringing up an even more interesting idea : Restoring the Byzantine Empire as an ally. The idea in and of itself is interesting but it will take much time and work to help realize. To the West, Sardinia is a threat to your Italian Interests due to them possibly having the idea of taking territories of in the peninsula for themselves. It would be wise to align with the French to take them down a peg and with them not being anywhere near the strength of you or the french, it would be a quick and easy war. Whatever you may choose, the road is paved with possible success.

Russian Empire

- Your Majesty, following the end of Pugachev’s Rebellion a few months ago, the empire has been relatively stable with little hampering it’s progress into the future. Despite nobles being angry at your continual reforms, there isn’t much threat to your rule. So the idea could be to go more radical with them to test the waters. What will you do?

- Your Western Front is all but secured at this point, with Poland being a puppet of the empire in all but name and Sweden no longer being the hegemon it was at the beginning of this century, it seems that nothing can really threaten you so the idea of expansion has popped up more than a few times in court. For Sweden, it is no secret that the Danes want to recreate the Kalmar Union of old and that is one possible way to expand in Sweden by helping them. Another way is by partitioning the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with Prussia and Austria, though that could an even longer border with those two nations. Whatever the risk, the rewards seem far sweeter. What is your plan for Western expansion?

- Unlike our western one, our southern border is relatively unsecured as the Ottomans and Caucasian Emirates remain a threat in the South West and in the South East, The Qing Empire could challenge your supremacy of Siberia. Yet another tight balancing act but it is recommended you strike as quick as possible to not give your enemies much time to recover. However, this could likely mean a long and dragged out war which could have negative consequences for the future. It is your choice but strike when most prevalent.

Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth

- Your Majesty, the Commonwealth is little more than a Russian Puppet at this point in time, with empress Catherine holding us hostage due to her influence in the Sejm. However, there is a way to throw off Russian influence, though it would mean being subservient to another for the time being. If we can ally with either Prussia or Austria, we would have a fighting chance of over throwing the Russian influence in our realm and being semi-free, though we would likely fall under the influence of our ally until we could break free from them. However, time is of the essence. There are rumors that a possible partition of the realm is being considered by Prussia, Russia, and Austria and the consequences of such a partition could lead to the end of the Commonwealth. Whatever decision you make, it must be made as soon as possible.

Ottoman Empire

- Sultan, your rule in the Islamic World is unchallenged with the collapse of Persia to your East and your Dominance of Egypt in the South, no other nation can dare claim to be the successor of Muhammad and the Umayyad Caliphate but you. However, the Empire has been the decline since Suleiman I the Magnificent’s time due to ineffective leaders that have allowed our military might to slowly decay. Such a state of our military is disrespectful and doesn’t befit the protector of all Islam. Several Reforms must be placed. What will be your first decree?

- With Persia posing no real threat to you, only two nations challenge you : Austria and Russia. Both have their eyes set on taking the Balkans from the empire and Austria has something that truly belongs to us instead : Hungary. While any war could prove to be costly, it would be wise to strike either one or both of them before it is too late.

Qing Empire

- Emperor, your mandate is unchallenged, your rule obeyed. No one, not the Shogun of Japan, King of Korea, or Empress of Russia, dare challenges your might. There is room for expansion and some obvious choices include Indochina, Siam, Korea, and Siberia, and there are less Obvious choices in India. At the same time, there are several European Nations open to the idea of trading with our realm, seeing the vast knowledge that you will give them and the many gifts they will give you as tribute. With so many wonderful ideas, what will you choose?

United States of America

- Mr President, it is war. British troops fired on colonists at Lexington and Concord, and the militia under Artemas Ward have now laid siege to Boston. How will you proceed?

- The idea of a Continental Army has been gaining support in Congress, with George Washington and Charles Lee emerging as the likely candidates for Commander-in-Chief. Your support for either man could sway several votes.

- John Dickinson and his allies, despite what has already happened, favour sending one last petition for peace with Britain, while John Adams and other believe that all-out war is inevitable. Should one last attempt at peace be made?

- There are many Native tribes throughout the Continent and some are on the side, some support Britain, and some support us. We must do whatever it takes to secure more native allies as every tribe that allies with us is one less advantage the British have in our revolution. However, we also must be careful not to be used as a toy in Tribal Warfare as such a thing could decimate our military without even battling the British. Will you align with Natives and which Natives will you seek the support of?

- Our rebellion has just started but there is one thing we need more than any other : International Allies. Without the support from other countries across the world, our Rebellion is dead in the water. Our first prime choices will have to be the Spanish and the French, who fought against the British, and ourselves, 12 years ago. From there, we could find many other nations willing to support our cause, btu we must remain careful, for if we find an ally too greedy, we could easily be betrayed. What nations will you seek the support of?

END OF 1775

War in Europe once More :

Sardinia-Savoy invades Genoa with Prussian help; Sweden struggles against the might of Prussia, Denmark-Norway, and Russia; Rebellion in Polish-Lithuania

The Fall of Genoa

After a decade of peace, Europe has entered war once more, beginning with a War in Italy under the ambitious Ducal King Victor Amadaeus III of Sardinia-Savoy. In a lightning quick campaign, Genoa's small navy was destroyed by the much better prepared Sardinian one and almost all of Genoa's territory as the Sardinian Military, with the aid of 5,000 well-trained Prussians under the command of the Duke of Brunswick, marched and quickly absorbed as much territory as they could. Doge Brizio Giustiniani has come forth to request aid from any nation but none has come forth, with France having signed a treaty with Sardinia-Savoy and other nations being simply uninterested in the small Italian Republic's plight. The Genoans showed, however, that they were anything but defenseless. The much larger Sardinian force suffered heavy casualties at the Battle of Busalla as the Genoese fought to try and cause as much damage to the Sardinian Military as possible before giving another key defensive for a few months within Genoa, which held out until Canons breached their walls and another bloody battle ensued.

After hours of brutal fighting, around 5,000 Genoese troops and the Doge was able to escape and they fought a bloody stalling engagement against the Sardianians and Prussians at the Battle of Rapallo. Despite the battle being a victory, it has taken out many men that are needed for the war to continue and, with the deaths of 1,000 Prussians, the Duke of Brunswick is considering whether or not to leave. The war after Rapallo has become nothing more than a stalemate, with the Genoese building up the last of their remaining forces in Chiavari, awaiting the inevitable final push of the Sardinian military.

Sweden under Siege

Once the Strongest Nation in Europe only 54 years ago, Sweden has fallen into great disarray with the military being in one of the worst conditions ever seen. Even despite the signing of the Triple Alliance between themselves, Austria, and the Ottoman Empire, they seem to weak to defend themselves. In a well calculated move, King Christian VII of Denmark-Norway has launched an invasion of Sweden in the hopes of restoring the Kalmar Union of old, with the help of their Prussian and Russian Allies, taking over some of Southern Sweden while the Swedes had launched a foolish invasion of their own into Norway that was quickly stalled after the Battle of Hamar by a few thousand Norwegian Natives who joined in the battle to defend their homeland while the Battle of Kristianstad halted the Danish advance as Winter slowly set in, forcing both Kingdoms to take shelter until the first thaws of Spring arrive.

East of Sweden itself, the Russian Empire has been able to sweep aside the small Swedish forces in the region with their massive army of 102,000 troops and take over much of Southern Sweden at the very start of the Invasion, Helsinki falling relatively quickly as Winter came in and while the Russian forces have slowed, they show the same determination they had during the Great Northern War and have continued to Campaign until the key city of Torku was isolated from the rest of Swedish held Finland before retiring to camp, the Russians reaching the Gulf of Bothnia as a suitable place to rest. South of Sweden, the last remnants of Swedish Dominance in the Holy Roman Empire, Swedish Pomerania, has fallen almost completely due to the Swedish monarch having to battle against Denmark and Russia on two other fronts and after the relatively decisive Battle of Griefswald, the Swedish forces in Pomerania fell apart and for the most part, surrendered to the Superior Prussian forces, though some remain in the final stronghold of Stralsund, awaiting transport back to the Mainland, Transport that is pre-occupied with battling the Danish Navy.

While allied to them, Austria and the Ottoman Empire haven't done much to react to this invasion of their ally, likely due to other plans, thus, unless something is changed quickly, Sweden will be quickly overwhelmed and King Christian will have achieved the goal of a remade Kalmar Union.

Karol Stanislaw Radziwill returns and launches rebellion against King Stanislaw

Former Sejm Marshal Karol Stanislaw Radziwill suddenly returned to the Poland-Lithuania after years of exile and has declared the restoration of the Bar Confederation against King Stanislaw in the hopes of defeating and removing him from power. Declaring his rebellion to be in the name of the Elector of Saxony, Frederick Augustus III, Radziwill has moved quickly, establishing a temporary capital in Lodz and taking over most of the border with Prussia and Austria and stopping their mighty campaign just a few miles away from Warsaw to camp for the Winter, allowing Stanislaw to catch his breath, as his relatively weak force practically scattered or joined the Rebellion in the first battle due to the King's unpopularity among many. Stanislaw has come to Empress Catherine and King Frederick in order to crush the Rebellion, even at the expense of more of his territory, though the two monarchs have yet to respond.

Austrian-Prussian Rivalry

Alliances formed by Prussia and Austria in preparation for Next War; Oppressed Nationals protest in Austria, Prussia forms League of Princes

The rivalry between Prussia and Austria is well known within the Holy Roman Empire, starting back in the First Silesian War in the 1740s and this rivalry has claimed many lives in the past 30 years. Yet again, it looks like this will escalate into war as Prussia and Austria moves to secure alliances and sends Troops to their borders to prepare for an assault from their enemy. With new alliances drawn, all sides have turned to them, waiting for who will fire the first shots in the next war.

Austria, despite the Military having been barely stopped from ending Prussia in the Seven Years War, has been burdened by the many nationals within the Archduchy, from the Italians, Croats, and Hungarians who request greater rights and more freedom within the Archduchy, to which the Archduchess has vehemently refused to even consider, thus allowing the radicals to paint her as an uncompromising tyrant and sufficiently crippling much of the Empire's ability to do much of anything as Hungarian, Croatian, and Italian troops have stated that unless the demands of their people have been listened to, they will retire from service. Many have stated the Prussia is the cause for this internal destabilization but there is no such proof of these protests being caused by Prussia. Thus the Archduchess has been forced into a tedious position as she sits on a Kingdom that could fall apart at any moment.

For Prussia, however, it seems like smooth sailing after key military, from the purchase of St. Barthelemy from France and establishing a small colonial base in Western Africa, to the purchase of East Frisia, Ansbach, and Bayreuth having expanded their kingdom while at the same time, key military reforms have greatly improved their manpower and combat effectiveness. The biggest diplomatic victory, however, was the formation of the Fürstenbund, forming an alliance with Saxony and Bavaria as well as several minor princes to counter Austrian Aggression within the Holy Roman Empire, securing themselves an intricate web of allies that can come to their aid in the case that they need it. Thus, the stage has been set and now everyone is ready for what the first moves of the inevitable war will be.

Portugal peacefully expands

Portugal purchases South Africa and Dutch South America, colonizes Australia

As Conflict consumes Europe, the Kingdom of Portugal has been relatively peaceful and has been able to create an intricate web of allies through marriage that has created peace for the time being. Following the purchase of South Africa and Dutch South America for 18 million francs, the Portugese decided to be a little more ambitious and began a colony in Australia in the hopes of eventually holding the entire island as its own. While Great Britain has yet to make any moves, it is assured that many within parliament are upset with the Portugese but can't do much of anything as they suffer two wars on different fronts. With their empire slowly expanding ever so slightly, many are wondering what the next step will be.

The Russians will not recognize Finnish independence if Denmark signs this treaty, due to previously negotiated terms.

Sweden is willing to sign a separate treaty with Russia. Russia however must dictate which conditions they absolutely require. Anything for Gustav III's beloved cousin, Catherine.

We would require the annexation of Finland and the Aland Islands.

I am willing to give up half of Finland and the Åland Islands or all of Finland without the Åland Islands. We will also get rid of our alliance with the Ottomans.
