This sounds like something a ticket with Warren on it would have.
Or any competent, non corrupt ticket running against Donald Trump.

Well that rules out "quid pro quo" Harris.
What?

Speaking of which: does anybody remember if Clinton/Kaine merch was available the day of the announcement? I know I got a sticker not long after, but I don’t remember exactly when.

Saying this despite not a popular opinion: I think Susan Rice would be a fine pick. She knows government, is smart and there seems to be a mutual trust with her and Biden. Benghazi, where is no proof of any wrongdoing by her, is kinda old news. Republicans will try to demonize each vice presidential pick, whether it's Kamala, Warren or even Duckworth. The "elite" thing seems overblown as well. The pandemic has shown how important it is to have competence in offices of public trust. Countries need able leaders, not necessarily someone you'd like to have a beer with. That said, I don't think Uncle Joe would like her if she wasn't simpatico. So I hope it's either Kamala, Demings, Whitmer or her.

I actually agree.  The fact that she has never ran for anything is a concern, but given the current state of affairs, its pretty unlikely that she is going to be able do any kind of in-person campaigning or speak in front of large rallies.

Too bad it's Gillibrand who's getting the job, though.

Given Biden's most recent statements, next weekend seems like the earliest we'll hear anything.

If the pick is Rice, would she be the nominee in 2024 (given that Biden wins and only serves one term)?

Probably leaks around August 1-2nd, with an announcement on the 3-4th. Dem. campaigns have been doing a lot of things on Mondays this cycle for some reason.

Harris' corruption is well known.

It actually is, at most she shaves off like 0.5% from Biden's margin. He could see that as too much of a risk, but maybe it is worth it for him to have a governing partner he likes and trusts the most and for the 2024 primary to be truly open (instead of it being like 2016 with Kamala as Hillary).

Don't know if you are joking but why would she abandon her safe senate seat to serve for 2-4 years as cabinet member?

I truly don't think it'll be Rice. I think they know that would be a mistake. Even Bass or Duckworth would be a better pick.

Why would you have *two* big Obama admin officials on the ticket? That would be *too* much of a rehash of that administration.

Really thinking it will still be Harris, it just has made sense for so long.

Sadly, I am joking.  But SoS is a much more prestigious and powerful job than being one of a hundred Senators.  Plus, I think she'd be really good at it and it could set her up to be Kamala's running mate in 2024.  But there's no indication Gillibrand will be part of Biden's administration.

Wow, political prognostication is getting really, really good these days. (Or, more likely, someone hacked the page in an attempt to drive her shares up on PredictIt.)
