Team McSally is already phoning it in. At least Blanche Lincoln actually won prior to her resounding defeat.

Money printer go brrrrrrr

I ondwr how many millions he’ll have left over for 2022. That’s going to be the real barn burner.

Idk, Ducey may not be in a very good position to run based on his Covid repsonse.

Doesn't mean it can't or won't turn into a real race against someone who's currently not a big name, especially in a Democrat midterm.

If he ends up hurting with the Republican base too, he might not end up being the frontrunner for the Republican nomination. AZ's Republican Party has a habit of tossing out incumbents and de facto incumbents that way.

Looking at the county websites, it seems neither of the Libertarian write-in candidates here have received enough votes to get onto the November ballot.

Is this really it? The most prominent AZ Republicans tend to be weak statewide candidates, but there are still plenty of AZ Republicans who could be much more popular than McSally if they could be persuaded to run and don't seem to have categorically ruled out bids.

I've mentioned former Governor Jan Brewer who was actually a meaningfully moderate Republican on certain issues as opposed to a "moderate [polite, but very right wing] Republican" (she supported Medicaid expansion to protect rural hospitals!). Even if one rules her out, all of the current row officers besides Ducey would also probably be doing better (although there is the issue of whether any would have been willing to accept the Senate appointment). Surely, some recent former row officers/Representatives would also have been better bets, although a few of those lost their last primaries.

With the filing deadline now having passed, 17 candidates have secured write-in status in this election: 4 Democrats, 4 Republicans, 1 Libertarian, 1 "independent Republican", 1 Unity and 7 independent candidates.

If he ever tries to get back into electoral politics, his association with an internationally radioactive soon-to-be ex-president really isn't going to play well.

Good news Smiley
