Lincoln Assembly Act

Lincoln Anti-Lobbying Act

I - Definition: This bill is written as to prevent regional legislators and officials from being influenced by or going into the business of lobbying. This will have no affect on nationally elected politicians.

II - Transparency: All meetings with lobbyists must be recorded by the assembly and will take place in an open area under supervision of multiple lawyers to prevent possible corruption. These lawyers must be independent and provided by an outside source.

III - Restrictions on meeting with lobbyists in office: Elected or appointed officials, including Governor, Cabinet Officials, and Assembly members must be approved by an independent commission to meet with lobbyists.

IV- Citizen’s clause: There will be no restriction on meetings with people not associated with a lobbying firm.

I support this bill, as I see no benefit to allowing lobbyists to influence the votes of our democratic process, especially with no protections. Anyone in dissent/want to add comments?

As it has not been 72 hours since debate started, motions to proceed to a final vote cannot yet be made. Instead you'll have to make a cloture motion which will then proceed to a vote. Seeing as there isn't much debate going on, I'll motion for cloture, 24 hours to object.

The bill passes on the following division.

Aye
Peanut
JaydonBrooks

Abstain
Wxtransit

Nay

This bill is submitted to the Governor for his signature and or veto

The closing and opening of a vote is, as far as I am aware, a duty of the Speaker. Additionally, I am not sure if your vote is valid, considering you were technically not a member at the time you cast it; instead, 1184AZ's vote would be, I believe, the valid one. Should I be mistaken on any of these counts, I urge some of our more well-versed players to correct me.
