If I read the article correctly (no guarantee), it looks like it says the last AG of MO went to prison for the same thing he is under investigation for. This could be rather serious.

This is misleading. The Republican SoS of Missouri has agreed to open an investigation into claims made in a lawsuit by Democrats that Hawley misused campaign funds. It's not a partisan thing. It's politics. Republicans are not saints either.

Also, while I'm not sure of what the particulars of these accusations are, if Hawley did break the rules, no one should be surprised that someone wants to hold him accountable. There is no point in having any rules if everyone just flouts them anyway. It's bad enough the FEC is as dysfunctional and useless as it is. It'd be nice if state-level regulations had some meaning.
