What exactly would this do?
Why does it have such a horrid title?
And what would be possible international consequences?

It withdraws us from the World Trade Organization.

Wel, we'd be out of the WTO and free to impose tariffs on people with whom we did not have trade agreements. We'd also be free of WTo bureocrats.

You mean truthful title.

And Bono did a good job of answering your other questions.

If all this does is pull us out of the WTO, I oppose this legislation.

What else would you like for it to do?

No, I'm assuming that's all it does.

As it is my power as GM to make such comments, there will obviously be international consequences.  Smiley

Indeed, that was a question specifically to the GM... though of course, once question one was answered, question three was answered as well. Smiley

Q, do you even know what the Fair Deal was? Give a bill a title that says something about what it does.

No; I am unwise and completely unaware of history.

The original Fair Deal is not precisely described by its title either, though in both cases the title is appropriate.

No. In neither case it's appropriate. See the second part of my post. Smiley

With all due respect, I believe what the bill does is more important than what the bill is called.

The bill title will stand.  If you wish to vote against this legislation due to the name it has been given, that is your right.

Change the title to "Kill All Atlasians Bill", it would be nothing about the title but still. Grin Tongue

I'm sorry, are we actually spending the Senate's time debating on the bill's title?

Unfortunately, it would appear so.

If there are any comments regarding the substance of this bill, please make them now.

I urge my senators to vote against this, primarily because of the title.
