None of the charges deal with disclosing classified information.  It's over (though there will be a cloud over Rove for a while).

Here's the CNN article, nothing too exciting.

The crime was in the coverup.  If there was a crime at all.  It will take a trial to determine that.

There was no underlying crime that they were covering up.

Going to be a difficult conviction.  I still expect a guilty plea on one charge for a large fine and no jail time.

FOX reports that Libby has resigned.  No surprise.

Yup, there will be no charges for outing.  If Perjury is the best they can get out of 2 years of investigation, then the witch hunt is over.

It's far from over. Other indictments will be coming in the next few weeks and months.

The trail leads up to Cheney.

Was no one else indicted?  No reporters or other aides or anything?  And there's not going to be any report to Congress?  If so, this is a really a pretty lame result of such a long investigation, IMHO.

Why do they need more than two years to figure out something to charge people with?

Because it took that long for someone to commit pergury, since it was obvious that no one could be charged with outing of Plame.

Funny.  Perjury was the best they could get after how many years of investigating Clinton.

Nope, the Libs Titanic has just hit the iceberg.

The Bush rebound begins.

Still, I support the investigation and Fitzgerald.  He's tough and by the book.

Sad how all of the Republicans here are in desperate spin mode. Bush gave a speech during Fitzgerald's announcement. Bush is desperately trying to change the subject.

Is the investigation finished? It's not over," Fitzgerald said at a news conference. "But … very rarely do you bring a charge in a case that's going to be tried in which you ever end a grand jury investigation. I can tell you that the substantial bulk of the work of this investigation is concluded."

Fitzgerald said that the reason he wasn't able to charge Libby with actual leaking was that Libby obstructed justice.

This point might be lost on the desperate Bush adminstration apoligists. You can stop defending these crooks already.

Too bad they consider an indictment for perjury and obstruction "spin."

I am not defending Libby.  If he broke the law, then he should face the music.   But your goal was not reached.  Rove is not going to be indicted.

Want to bet on that one?

GOP apologists think the investigation is over and nothing else will happen. They are sadly delusional.

Read along with me...

...I don't think Fitzgerald is speaking in parables, so he is saying there is a very slim chance other charges will be brought.  Which means Libby could have walked free if he hadn't lied.  How does Fitzgerald know he lied?  Because Fitzgerald has proof of the truth, which is how he knows Libby lied.

Quit defending these crooks unless you want to be considered a crook too.

You're the only one who thinks I am defending Libby.  He is charged with lying to authorities and a grand jury and obstructing the pursuit of truth in a criminal investigation.  Those are extremely serious charges.

What I am saying is Fitz doesn't himself believe there will be other charges brought, otherwise he wouldn't have let the grand jury expire.

Reading what the prosecutor is saying:

I think he thinks he has Libby dead to rights on the charges.  I don't know whether Libby can cop a plea, but it would probably be a wise move for reduced sentence time.  Of course, his evidence might not be as strong as he's making it out to be; we'll have to wait until trial for that.

I think that barring any new relevatory evidence, the investigation is probably over.

My two cents.

He could always get a new grand jury. The thing is Libby is obstructing justice, otherwise there'd be a lot more charges. Libby might also be being set up as the fall guy. The investigation is not over.

Fitzgerald just debunked a lot of you guy's right wing talking points.

Sadly you would rather call Democrats stupid names like "Dims" than admit that you support some curropt crooks.
