She is representing her constituents in viewing the ban as violating the First Amendment. Her Jewish, Muslim, and Sikh members of her district would be most supportive in the removal of the ban. It makes perfect sense.

To my mind, this is a no-brainer. I’d no less want to deprive a congresswoman of her hijab than I would a congressman his kippah.

The real question is whether this allows Frederica Wilson to finally, after years of lobbying, wear her cowboy hats in the House. If the ban is only lifted on religious headwear, then she’s the one who’s being snubbed.
