Even worse ... my girlfriend's somewhat odd-duck cousin asked her to be her maid of honor for her wedding, so we went up there to spend a weekend with them.  They live in Lakeville.  The closest we got to either of the Twin Cities was the frickin' Mall of America in Bloomington.  When my girlfriend and I suggested we go downtown Minneapolis for dinner and drinks that Saturday night, they suggested a small brewery closer to their apartment.  This decision of theirs was later vindicated in their minds because there was a Luke Bryan concert downtown that weekend and there would have been "so many people."

I respect different kinds of having fun, but I still have selfish PTSD about that trip, LOL.  Need to get back to the Twin Cities without telling them we are anywhere near soon.

You wouldn't like Minneapolis anyway. You might've seen that post on how my precinct votes. It's mega-liberalism and pure Democratic hackery all the time.

You see, I am a normal person, so politics wouldn't get brought up on a Saturday night out to dinner...

Minneapolis is so liberal lots of businesses put up liberal signs in their windows. This is common.

If the businesses had good food, good booze and the people were nice, I wouldn't care at all.

I've also been in the capitol building for the German state of Bavaria.

The Maximilianeum is truly a beautiful building. Originally it was built in 1874 as a dormitory for gifted students of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

For comparison: the North Dakota State Capitol building

There is, however, an even more gorgeous state capitol building in Germany: the Schwerin Palace, which serves as the residence of Landtag of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was errected at the end of the first millennium:

I was fortunate to be invited to meet with the Bavarian Minister of Education and attend a session of the Parliament while visiting in 2009.

Ludwig Spaenle? How did he discover you? Are you a minister/secretary, too? Tongue

It was set up by my good friend and host who is a leader in the CSU.

Didn't expect you to have diplomatic ties with Bavaria. You live and learn.
