If Pelosi commits to one term, then I think there's absolutely no reason to get rid of her.

I don't see why she should commit to one term.

Also, its kinda clear at this point that the New Dems and usurpers kinda screwed themselves. Their rebellion has easily been crushed, and the Left of the party has now been given even more power. Looks to me that the usurpers were playing checkers, while Pelosi and her Progressive allies were playing 500th dimension chess.

Is it really that big of an issue that Tim Ryan is a white male? Or am I too privileged? I hate the base of my party sometimes.

I think its mostly the fact that they share that trait, and how all 5 want to take the party backwards, towards the center. It also doesnt help that this has been Seth's arguement for replacing Pelosi:

Because she's efficient and she's clearly preparing the new generation to take over.

I administered a party in a fantasy game and from my experience a good leader isn't someone who is popular, but who is skilled at the political game. Popularity shouldn't be taken into account at all

Glad you think Marcia Fudge is a white man. The willingness of progressives to abandon their ideals is sickening.

Being a white male isn't the issue. The issue is they are mediocre.

This is how the game is played when you got someone at the helm who knows what she is doing. You have allies rearrange the board so that by the time your opposition sits down, every move available is a losing one. We just have not seen the game for so long because the Tea Party and the GOP have been more coalition partners then a true big tent for the past 7 years.

Spanberger also doesn't appear to be budging either after meeting Pelosi, she's a hard no vote on the floor.

We should accept and respect Marcia Fudge's gender and racial self-identity, whatever it may be. If Marcia Fudge identifies as a white man, who are you to say she is not? I guess it is typical of a Fudge supporter that they hold regressive views on racial and gender identity issues - as exemplified by Fudge's failure to co-sponsor the Equality Act. That is not what the Democratic party needs. The Democratic party does not need to go backwards, but forwards into a brighter future led by our wonderful and talented leader, Nancy Pelosi.

The best possible result of this struggle would be to leave Pelosi in power for just one more session while making room in the leadership for members who are a little more dynamic than Clyburn or Hoyer and totally discrediting figures like Tim Ryan. Somehow, that actually sounds like what is happening?

That's would should happen. If we can't have Dan Lipinski as a Dem Speaker, then we should at least make an effort to get decent leadership, rather than anyone Yoga Tim wants. That's not to say Marcia Fudge would be bad, but it is to say that Yoga Tim and Seth are not entitled to hold the House of Representatives hostage.

Spanberger strikes me as someone who could potentially become speaker in the distant future.

I don't like Boehner, but he had the decency to step aside to allow for fresh leadership to take the reins of the House portion of his party.

He stepped aside when he was unable to lead the caucus. He did not step aside to "allow for fresh leadership".  Pelosi seems to have pretty strong support within the caucus. Why should she step aside?

Boehner's job from 2011-2015 was prolly the easiest ever. All he had to do was block any Dem idea coming from the Senate and shut down the govt. if things got out of hand. How hard could that be?
