MJ Hager will win. GOP and Trump have trouble in Latino states: that's why TX was so close.. The reason why GOP won FL, was due to Rick Scott being popular

The reason TX is getting more competitive isn’t because of Latinos, it’s because they’ve had an influx of educated millennia white voters

Cruz beat Beto, laat yr, due to his Latino last name and conservative Latinos you don't find in AZ, CO and AZ

Sounds like Castro is trolling the US Senate seat.

It's silly to think a perennial candidate who's never held elected office...

How many times has Hegar run for office?!

lmao I haven't made up my mind yet whether snowlab is a good troll or not. Posts like this are making me lean towards no.

I guess John Cornyn is a perennial candidate too because he's run for office so many times Roll Eyes

Cornyn has NEVER lost an election at all since 1984: Primary, Runoff & General Elections.

Didn't we learn in 2018, statewide Dems are competitive in TX than they use to be. The Senate stayed GOP, plus Abbott's coattails saved Cruz, from Beto

Neither did Dean Heller until Wacky Jacky took him down

Cornyn will win re-election, Likely REP, at minimum Lean R. Cornyn may have a lower approval than Cruz did, but he is going to be re-elected by a slightly larger margin.

Is it just me or is Democratic recruitment in the Senate terrible so far? We still don't have a candidate in Iowa or Maine, North Carolina looks iffy, Castro, Abrams and Bullock are out. I know it's only May, but still. It also seems Republican recruitment is pretty poor, Sununu is out in NH and they don't have anyone for MI or MN.

Also don't forget CO where there is a huge recruitmenr failure, forcing Dems to spend tons of moneyC which I'd rather they spend there than AZ, NC, or MI

Wow. Though his brother's presidential campaign seems to be going nowhere, as expected. Maybe he can jump into the race?

Can people stop wetting the bed about recruitment failures? It's May of the off-year ffs. If it's still like this in December then yeah there's a problem, but for now just calm down a bit

Hopefully Beto eventually takes the hint and drops down to this race. I don’t think Hegar’s the one to do it.

Hegar is a great candidate maybe even better than Castro would've been. Great bio and very charismatic with no voting record to attack for being too liberal or whatever. Look at candidates like Mikie Sherrill, Elaine Luria, Haley Stevens, and Spanberger women military candidates especially have done great.

Stevens is gone in 2020, Spanberger probably loses, Luria is a poor Tossup, Sherrill strikes me as overrated, I live in Morris County, she probably won't win it again, her support in Montclair, the Oranges, Little Falls, and the Essex and Passaic part of the district will get her reelected, I doubt she wins by more than 6-7 and could lose on a good night for Republicans

I'm glad Castro's out. He'd be associated with his brother, who's running way to the left with zero charisma in the POTUS primary. Joaquin would have a difficult time denouncing everything his brother says. I think Hegar'll be a way better candidate.

I get that it's an uphill battle, but Castro is really selfish. This is a horrible cycle for the Democrats in terms of recruitment.

Castro is upset with his brother's chances in the Democratic primary, Joaquin is gonna stay in the House where he is a safer bet.

We have a recruitment in MJ Hegar.

Im starting to wonder if y'all were awake during the 2018 midterms when a guy running on a Medicare for All, Tight Gun Control, Pro-Choice Platform almost beat Ted Cruz.

Yes, but she came within three points in a district Trump won by 13. That's far more impressive than Castro being elected to one of the bluest districts in the state.

Hegar is a pretty strong candidate and she probably would have the right message against Cornyn so Castro being out isn't a big deal.
