K? the UN is the only organization who could stop the US from becoming a World Bully. Them, and the chinese in a few years.

You're a big Alex jones fan, aren't you Killerpollo?  You never heard him say anything about the UN becoming a global government?
Even if it's not the scare tactics Jones uses, the United Nations has
1.failed to do it's job in ensuring peace
2.cost multiple countries money to support it (taxpayers)
3.tried to push a global agenda
4.favoritism to whatever countries are in control ---that means little Mexico really has no voice compared to us, something you definitely dislike hmm?

wow, Jake makes an overstatement.

The UN is generally positive. All the stuff like UNICEF, etc.

And it's not like the French would've supported the US in Iraq if the UN didn't exist. Most of the negative feelings you have towards the UN, Jake, would just be directed somewhere else; you need something to hate. The UN's just a lightning rod.

That's a load of crap Hugh. Should I blame Ghana for Kofi's actions? Obviously, that would be absurd, but apparently that's what you think I should do.

If there was no UN, there would be no North Korea to worry about.

Yeah, that's because we'd have Korea to worry about.

Oh, Jake, you don't know a good thing when you see it.  The UN was founded by the US to persuade other countries to accept our influence.  By giving them a sense that they are not being completely bullied by the Empire, it has actually greatly abetted Imperial aims.

Actually remember that Palpatine got his start as a Senator from the Trade Federation and was an obvious corporatist. Naboo was quite poor too from what we saw. So it was basically a wealthy super-conglomerate oppressing a poor planet at the beginning.

I was using those terms in their traditional, real world meanings.  Your science fiction reference never occured to me, nerd.

I suppose I should've thought more about the nature of my audience.

The United States is subjected to such horrible restriction because of these multicultural socialist diplomats, who are much more than a mere nuisance.

No, the United States is not restricted by the UN, it has been restricted by internationalists within the Democratic Party (and the old pre-religious Republican Party), much to the benefit of the United States.

As one can see by Bush's antics, the US can get up to all sorts of ridiculous Hitlerian agressions once its elected leaders decide to ignore universally beneficial international institutions.

And Naboo looked quite prosperous from the movie I saw. Maybe BRTD saw the raw, uncut version.

Naboo was a PEACEFUL planet. meaning it could get easily ass-raped by any military. But they WERE prosperous however.

And Palpatine was involved with the trade federation, but he only played them to create crisis so could gain power.  When he did take complete control, he sent Vader to destroy the trade federation's rebellion.

No. In the book. Darth Sidious ordered Nute Gunray to shut down all battle units of the Trade Federation. about an hour after, Darth Vader stormed in, and slaughtered all the separatists.

Yes. The Separatists were MERE puppets of palpatine's but they thought they were for a separate cause.

kind of like Terrorists!

Could you answer a simple question: what is the UN? How is it different from a koala?  Once you can answer what it is, your comment might or might not make more sense than mine.

Lets pull out from the UN. The US needs to stop caring about the rest of the planet's problems. They're not americans so why bother with them? End of story.

Jake, I don't understand your hatred of the UN.

If we get an idea in our heads, we ask the UN if they support it. If they do support it, great! If they don't we go ahead and do it anyway.

How many UN treaties has the US refused to sign anyway?

Point being-- we are a thorn in the side of the UN, not the other way around.

Wrong

The world acts like any time the US refuses to act like the UN is above us, the US is wrong. That's why the US should at least remove our funding from the organization, if not our membership in the general assembly. Another reason to withdraw was given this past week when one member (Iran) called for another member (Israel) to be wiped off the face of the planet. They retain their seat in the general assembly though.

Try watching to movie sober -- Palpatine was from Naboo and stood against the Trade Federation, at least in his public facade.  Privately, he pretended to be on their side, while personally, he was pitting the Republic's forces against the Federation's.  But he never publically represented the Federation in an attempt to oppress the poor of Naboo.  Nor do I think Naboo was all that poor -- that city was pretty freakin' impressive; the planet just happened to be populated by a race of Jar-Jar Binkses as well.
