Can an employer refuse to hire ugly people?

I've wondered about this for awhile. There's a bar here that I'm sure refuses to hire any people who aren't way good looking at all. Pretty much every single girl working there always gives me a hard on, and my female friends say that even the bouncers are hot. I suppose they figure that will cause people to come more often, and it usually works

So could someone theoretically sue if they refused to hire them because they weren't good looking enough?

Theoretically, someone could probably sue. Personally though, I think that employers should be able to decide who they don't wish to hire by any criteria they want.

Yes.  This was the case in Atlantic City where they fired a gal for gaining 5 pounds.  The reason was that the gals are hired to "sell" the Casino, and personal appearance is a big part of that.

Depends on whether it's necessary criteria for the job.  A strip joint- Hell, yeah they ahev the right to refuse someone ugly.
