Do you feel a sense of patriotism for your country? Why or why not?

Yes, I like modern Germany and there is a lot the be proud of. I'm also a European patriot, because I believe the European Union is our future and one of the greatest blessings for us and the world.

Other than Germany, the United States is my favorite country, followed by Greece, where my Dad is originally from (now a German citizen).

I’ve never felt any sense of patriotism, honestly. I’m not hostile to the US; it’s like a sense of religiosity, it’s just lacking in me.

Nah, you don't choose where you come from, so why should it be a source of pride or devotion?

Honestly, patriotism is a tool that the elites use to exploit the rest of us

^^ Thank you for your service xx

Yes, I Love England with all my heart Purple heart and my new adopted home Minnesota,
But I'm not a "nationalist", and I do not believe me being English makes me any more superior or special then anyone else...

So as to avoid your misinterpreting, I was twice an elections inspector.

How do you manage to be right so often?

American is cool, though. I love the diversity of cultures here, and especially the diversity of cuisines.

yes

I don't know if I would if I was born in a sh**t country (ya know, like the ones people flee from to get to mine), but thankfully I was born in a country people regularly die trying to get into.  It's not proof that it's the best, there are a handful of countries people regularly die trying to get into, but it's proof that it's better than the countries people die leaving.

People that are lucky enough to be born in one of the few good countries and don't appreciate it should spend sometime in the sh**t countries.  They won't, because they are close minded assholes, but they should.

Of course! There is not even a little to debate for. But I am not a kind of nationalist patriot, I just respect and admire whole culture and history of my country. There is so much to say about!

I am, though I would use the term nationalist myself - nobody uses patriot in the Netherlands.

Honestly, patriotism is a tool that the elites use to exploit the rest of us

Hardly, considering the fact that most European political elites are internationalists and EU-integrationists who are deeply scornful of patriotism (which they see as dated provincialism). Just look at Merkel's reaction at a party colleague who tried waving a German flag at an election victory party: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kgQF5rvpY0

Which is why Merkel completely rejected fiscal union... knowing that the existing fiscal structure of the euro was very much in Germany's interest.

There is a reason that right wingers like Rutte and Merkel are happier with an internationalist EU rather than real federalism  and démocratisation. The elite are perfectly happy with nation states as they are - it let's the keep up a system of competition between nations which ultimately only really benefits the rich

Yes, I'm quite patriotic. I strongly believe in the common values that make us Americans - respect for the dignity of the individual, equality under the law, and the idea that anyone from anywhere can come here and make a life. I believe that America has been a force for good in the world and that she and her institutions deserve respect.

Depends on how you define patriotic, Does being ex military give me automatic membership in the patriot club?
