The two row of palms along the promenade at the seafront in La Spezia are beautiful. However, I would be very happy if every oleander in the city were ruthlessly cut down.

When I was on holiday in the United States this February I went searching for a 1$ coin.
I got it on the day of my return flight. I gently asked the keeper of the store where I had just bought a skirt for my girlfriend if she could give me a 1$ coin as part of the change, and she was so kind she directly gifted me one as a souvenir.

I have an update that is extremely appropriate for this forum: today I received a call and it was a poll about the September Ligurian regional election. It was the first time in my life I took part in an election poll (although last year I took part in a poll about radio usage).

I have realized today that my city has a statue of someone who notoriously held antisemitic views which was put in place two years ago and honestly I am not bothered by it.

Oh, wow. Hitler loved Wagner and he was extremely racist, but damn if he wasn't a great composer. That one should absolutely stay up.

Based on league table, Spezia definitely deserve to go up. I find the 6-team playoff in Serie B to be a bit ridiculous, tbh. It should just be 4 teams like in the Championship or Segunda Division, both of which have more teams than Serie B.

So, my 16-year-old sister is now a nondenominational Protestant and she attends and plays the flute at our city's evangelical Methodist church.*
Today I accompanied her to the religious services, to make a new experience.
It was strange but less strange than I would have expected.
I must say that the pastor had an oratory ability that I have never seen before in my life.

You should have seen the Pentecostal church I attended in north Florida for years. The first time I went, they scared the hell out of me when they began quietly speaking in a rushed whisper something that vaguely sounded Spanish. They called it "the gift of the tongues." In my head I privately laughed but I was pretty quickly humbled and fell in love with that church.

Wow. I have heard of "speaking in tongues" and frankly I don't quite understand it.
There is actually an evangelical Pentecostal church in my city, but I have never been there and to be fair I didn't even know it existed until one month ago or so.

I hadn't seen such a clear one in years.
