In other news, I got my SRS consultation scheduled for August 3. Looking forward to it, even if I have to drive two hours for it (and I might not even go under the knife there).
On what I think might be a related note, my mental health seems to be improving. While I'm not certain that my consultation being scheduled is what's put me in such good spirits (after all, it's just a consultation), it does seem like the most likely culprit. I don't know, it's nice knowing that I'm gonna be going under the knife relatively soon.
Welp, I was today years old when I found out it was possible to schedule "emergency surgery" weeks in advance, because that's what's delayed my consultation to the 17th. I guess I should be grateful I got a new date immediately, but dammit, I don't want to wait any longer than I have to.

Under the influence of the Chaos Gods, he impulsively set his Warhammer 30K rules and miniatures on fire and has committed to only playing Warhammer 40K in the far future.

I have mixed, poured, and leveled about a ton of concrete (in the form of 30-odd 60lbs bags) today, and I have a newfound respect for the medieval construction workers of yore.

a long-time family friend, a woman who had been a friend of my sister in high school and who considered my mom a sort of a surrogate mom for the help she's given her at various points over the years, died this past weekend.  seems it may have been from some drugs a friend gave to her that killed her when combined with her diabetes.  really sucks.

In the interest of making sure I'm not broke in a few years, I've decided to start paying back student loan debt. The question: should I wait until after the election to see if the Dems move forward on SL forgiveness before I drop a metric ton of cash, trying to pay everything off ASAP?

I don't think it's bad to wait, especially such a short time, but this decision weighs on some intangible factors that vary from person-to-person. When AAD first started up, I recall King making the recommendation that it would be best to just make the minimum payments while keeping your savings invested in the market and you would come out ahead in the long-run, but this is pretty risky for most people especially if you are not confident that you will be employed at least at your current wage a year from now and even more so in a possibly lower-growth era. I don't envy your decision, but I don't think there is terrible harm in waiting a year even if I don't think the envisioned upside is highly probable.

It would probably be cheaper to get citizenship elsewhere.

Socialism is when the government does stuff. The more stuff the government does, the more socialist-er it is.

A girl I dated for two months from November to mid-January is already engaged, and, it feels weird to me for some reason.  I broke up with her because I didn't feel like my feelings for her were progressing after 2 months (and I suspect that was mutual).  Really, they had gone to the point of no longer having any feelings for her.  A month or so later, she got into a relationship.  It makes me question why things never progressed with us that they progressed so quickly between her and someone else.  Now, she's engaged less than 5 months after meeting the other guy, when they also have noted on FB several times that they didn't see each other due to the TN/KY border being closed for two months.

Plus, she made a reference to "6 months ago" in her engagement announcement, which may or may not have been a subtle reference to me, as she got engaged 6 months to the day after I broke up with her.

I certainly would not be interested in her even if she was still single, but her getting engaged that quickly makes me go back and wonder about what went on in the 2 months I was with her- just a few months ago.

Not exactly related to your situation, but why is it that Southrons marry either after they've dated for six to eight months or during/straight out of college?

I had a giggle fit at the grocery store this evening about OC.  Thankfully I had my mask on, so it was hard for anybody to tell.

I think I have a problem.

For Evangelicals, I would suspect it has a lot to do with a certain thing that many Evangelicals consider sinful to do before marriage.

Perhaps, but I've noticed it in a lot of non-Evangelicals too.  It was one of the first weird cultural trends I discovered since moving to the South.

yuh yuh that was me. me and my wife got married senior year of college bcuz yolo lmao.

like, in college here pretty much everybody was engaged or married. like, it was weird to meet someone who wasn't at least in a several years long committed relationship and probably about to get engaged.

i have some theories about it tho.

religion plays a major part, even among the less religious people somehow. for whatever reason late teens/early 20s ppl here (particularly women) have a big thing about needing to marry the first person they ever had sex with. so it's like, religious influence at least even if the individual in question isn't religious. also a lot of times you'll get ppl (usually guys) who get with some chick cuz she's hot, but then find out she's also religious af so they become that way too then they have to get married bcuz it doesn't count as premarital sex if you marry that person eventually, or other mental gymnastics like that lmao

My God, you cannot take syllabus policy at face value at all lol.

One of my marketing courses said this in the syllabus, and it was even bolded.

We got a reminder to take the exam two days before exam time.

Despite that, I still forget that it is in the morning and sleep through the exam, and I get this email right before the exam is done, which I see way later that day.

I ignore that email for over half a month, and then I get this email today.

I didn't even bother lying about it when I finally got around to responding.

And then I get an email back accepting what I said, and then asking me what time is convenient for me to take the test.

It's almost like they don't want me to fail or something lol

While studying for the LSAT, I have come across a shady treasure trove of official LSAC-administered tests complete with answer keys. If anyone here is thinking of applying to law school anytime soon, PM me and I can show you how to access the PDFs.
