Assuming he wins, he will probably rank alongside MBS, Sisi and Putin as the worst current world leaders.

Obvious HP is obvious. He won't be the worst world leader, but he is certainly a strong contender for worst democractically elected world leader, up there with people like Erdogan.

Not worth it. That's what people have said for other vaguely right wing authoritarians, and it NEVER ends well. Just accept the insane pensions and wait 4 years for Brazil's Macron.

What is so unreasonable? I mean, it's a bit optimistic, but Brazil's economy is terrible because of PT's insane economic constraints. If Bolsonario loses and Haddad's presidency is terrible, they could absolutely turn towards a Silva or Alckmin. Regardless, a Bolsonario presidency is a non-starter.

One of a crop of new Hitlers on the world stage.  The far right is working overtime to change the outcome of World War II.

I can’t believe people are saying that he would be an economically good president. How is segregation of minorities in society and being run by a corrupt military dictatorship good for the economy. This isn’t even like Erdogan who put necessary reforms in the beginning, the economy is just gonna tank.

Umm, Temer has been leading a pretty radical right wing agenda for the last 2 years... and the emerging markets as a whole are experiencing a down turn. Unless you think the recessions in South Africa and Turkey are also the PT's fault?

And Brazil tried neoliberalism in the 1980s. It didn't work

If he "only" ranks alongside those leaders then we will be very lucky. It will mean he didn't commit mass genocide.

Reported:

Thanks Al. Wishing death on a living political figure or other poster is an absolute no-no on this site. Feel free to label them as HP, but don't go down the other road. I have cleaned up all the recent posts in this thread that crossed the line or quoted those posts that did.

Yes, calling for someone's murder (be it a public figure or otherwise) absent highly unusual circumstances is against the TOS and will be infracted. I often do not infract posts that I delete these days for various reasons, but I will infract that genre of posts.

Bin Laden is one of those unusual cases to which I alluded. Bolsonaro is not. An unusual case is basically a human monster by the standards of most, who is not available to be tried in a court in a civil society.

I would also note that, relevant to the hypothetical given, there is a distinction between advocating assassination and celebrating someone's death. The latter is still inappropriate in most circumstances, but as a general rule it is less objectionable and therefore less likely to be moderated.
