It sounds like a boring job to me. Even if you like mathematics, analytics, financial accounting, what are the prerequisites for the job?

The two offices in Illinois should be merged. But it is halirious that Democrats have to battle tooth and nail to the end to win IL-Treasurer in 2014 and lost IL-Comptroller. They won it in a special election in 2016 depending heavily on Cook County.

Now in 2018 both offices are rated as Solid Dem.

But no I would not want to be in either office.

If I was an accountant/auditor/finance guy, and interested in a career in public office, yeah I'd probably want the jobs. Since I'm not, no.

I'm bad at all three of those things, so no. At the same time, Trump was bad at every job that he ever had, so why can't I aspire to his pitiful standards too?

It's odd to me that they're both up for re-election at the same time.  I'm used to the Missouri system where the auditor is elected two years after all the other statewide offices.  I guess the writers of the current constitution wanted the auditor as independent as possible.  I took it for granted that other states would operate the same way.
