Well?

Personally the main effect will be that it will consolidate the gop base in the senate races and that at the same time it will screw some incumbents in Clinton-Rep seats.

However, I believe it was going to happen anyway. It's just making it more quickly. If Heitkamp loses by 10 points, it means that she was already going to lose by 10 points. Does that make sense? Tongue

I think Heitkamp, McCaskill will lose as they have said they will vote NO. And that's all Republicans need to retain the Senate.

If the election was happening next week, yes. But since we have over a month which is an eternity in Trump world, I dont think it'll mean all the much.

Nobody cares. Nobody has ever cared other than people who want it to matter so as to align with their political preferences. The idea that Trump won because of Scalia is just moron pundits being fooled by randomness and now they are doing it again with Kavanaugh after the Trump tax scam bump failed to materialize.

Only if it somehow drags on through the month.

Yes, though how much depends on how long it will drag on. The idea that nobody will care about this is pretty cute, though.

Say it ends this weekend?

After Kyl appointment the GOP secured the 50 votes needed to confirm Kavanaugh. And Ducey is giving a bump to McSally to secure the GOP Senate, if AZ is lost to DEMS

Obviously I don’t know for sure, but most likely it would benefit Democrats. Ironically, it might be best for Republicans if Murkowski and Collins vote NO.

So, it would be best for the nomination to get rejected, making Trump pick someone else? (Manchin isn't willing to be the 50th vote for Kavanaugh)

No. The news cycle moves so fast, something else will have overtaken it by the election. And voters' memories are getting shorter and shorter as the years go by.

A little bit. Even as the media cycle moves on, Kavanaugh will still be one of many factors that are part of people's vote on the Trump/Republican agenda, whether they are opposed or in support of it. Really, that's what these midterms are about.

The races have tightened up a bit, and it is very important to conservatives. That's why it was so important to get the vote out the way, so Trump has something to say he accomplished

They voted no because they were already in trouble. But I'm certain whoever loses will use this as an excuse even though it'll likely have made zero difference in the end--if the GOP loses, they'll claim they were part of a fake news smear campaign, and when the Dems lose they'll claim supporting sex assault victims is "too radical" and pull this out as an excuse to move even further to the right.
