Nickleback two higher than the Foo Fighters?  It just doesn't make any sense.  Tom Petty at 38? and I still haven't seen Neil Young yet.  WTF is a "One Republic" and why are they in the top 40?  Korn before the Kinks?  It's weird how much they get right for clearly having never listened to any music before.

Stones should be number one, sorry I'm not sorry!  And dead0man, I think you should look a BIT outside what you can stand to listen to ... there is nothing wrong with Bon Jovi's or Journey's ranking, even if you hate their music.

I hate this for two reasons:
1. This list is trash.
2. They only include bands and not individual artists which does not give a good view (David Bowie for example would be on any reasonable top 100 rock artists list).

But do you really expect BUSINESS INSIDER to be cultured in music?

I get that they are both important to rock, both should be on the list and even in the top 30 or so.  But noway are they more important than The Who, the Kinks or hell, I'd even argue Chicago is more important, and I hate Chicago.

not at all, but that's part of the fun.  And they probably know as much as posters on a political based message board do Smiley

where the funk are The Ramones and Tool?  Metallica is in the top 10, but there is no room for Anthrax, Megadeath or Slayer?  That doesn't make ANY sense.

Get off my lawn, you spotify hipster.  Yeah, I'm talking about dead0man, even though he is technically younger than me.

I suppose it just serves as a reminder that you think of all those iconic bands from the 1970s/80s like Joy Division, Public Image Limited, The Jam - and none of them ever actually had that much commercial success.

But not including The Clash is unforgivable

chill, my dudes

1. this list isn't about skill/talent, it's a ranking of general popularity
2. the list is not based on anyone's subjective opinion, it's based on specific data
3. Business Insider didn't make this list, they took it from 247wallstreet.com which is apparently a blog about financial markets

here's a link to the original list and there's a section about its methodology too

Probably not the best way to mathematically determine popularity but it's more reasonable than some random clickbait author's stupid opinions lol
