I think President McCain would have scared Putin so badly he wouldn't have even made an attempt because McCain would have made it clear he'd have the wrath of the US military and the rest of NATO came down upon Putin's head.

He surely would. Crimea means a lot for majority of Russians (almost no one approved Khrushchev's "transfer" of it to Ukraine) - one. And Putin doesn't seriously fears US military - two. He knows, that US fears nuclear war at least as much (probably - even more, it's people have more to lose) as Russia.

Yes and the McCain administration would stand by doing nothing just as GWB did during the invasion of Georgia.

+100. Nuclear weapons are NOT a deterrent when other side knows for sure, that you will not use it. And this is exactly that case.

even if neither US or Russia had nukes no President would take the US to war over Crimea.

Now, on the other hand, we likely would have had WW3 already(which would start in 1962) if there wasnt a possibility of MAD.

McCain would've been such a pussy as president. He couldn't even pick a VP he wanted.

I really hoped we'd get over the McCain silliness once he's cold dead, but some people can't quit.
