According to Wikipedia, George McGovern briefly considered to run for prez once again in 1992. What if he did and won the Dem nomination? I Know the latter is extremely unlikely, but if so, does he lose again in a race that most Dems would have won?

Ross Perot (assuming he runs) might end up winning, since Bush would still face the same issues he did in OTL 1992, while McGovern would be remembered as "that guy that got destroyed by Nixon" and wouldn't have Clinton's centrist appeal to Appalachia.

McGovern might have won.  He might have won, regardless of what Perot would have done.

America was much more liberal in 1992 than it was in 1972, and there was real unhappiness with Bush.  The big question would have been whether or not McGovern could have carried NJ, CT, IL, and MI.  A lot of the issues that made McGovern unpopular in 1972 had faded, and the electorate in 1992 was far more socially liberal.

McGovern would have carried CA in 1992.  That would have been epic for the time.

Quite possibly this. At anyrate I think McGovern would have been destroyed electorally again; even had the race been a two horse race between him and Bush, I don't see McGovern doing better than Dukakis did 4 years earlier.
