I am posting to gauge interest in a few services that I may be starting up for the SoFA's Office.  Is there any interest in the following services?

1.  An election notification system that alerts people by PM or email when elections they can vote in open.

2.  A notification of expiring or expired registration.

3.  A publicly available calendar of upcoming elections.

Any additional suggestions for services that the Department of Forum Affairs can provide are more than welcomed.  Smiley

Thanks everyone.

And if public opinion is against 1, I'm probably going to do it anyway for starred voters or for new ones Kiki

(kidding, kidding, of course I'll cave in to public pressure Tongue)

Why do you think that?  I lean against #1, too, but I would like to see your reasoning.

I suppose my primary worry on that is that it will increase the easiness of being inactive and only voting in elections.  Not everyone who is inactive is uninformed, though.

I don't see much problem in this case with notifying people of expired registrations, though, to avoid instances like we had in the Northeast.

1. No, that's what the candidates job is, they should do it. (That's what I do)

2. Yes good idea, do it!

3. Very good idea, definitly do it or I will get protestors! Grin

It shouldn't be up to any official to notify someone when their registration is about to be terminated. Especially since that means they weren't paying attention/voting at all. One is just crap anyway, simply because they will know if there is an election if they check the board once every two weeks.

Do you have objection to notification when registration has expired to avoid cases like in the Northeast, where election results had to be changed because someone with an expired registration was still voting?

1. No, then all the inactives would know about the election and probably avatar vote, and decide any close elections.
2. No, we don’t need to have them re-register so that we can haul them around as dead weight.  If they were active, their registration wouldn’t be expiring.
3. Yes, I like that idea.

I couldn't care less about inactives being unable to vote.
