So I guess trump believes that these two congressmen winning their upcoming election, is more important compared to the wrong-doing they have committed?

Is that the message a president should send to the Justice Dept (and the nation's AG)?

What a wrong doing is and what is not is decided by the God Emperor, not the law.

This is a truly partisan Republican administration in action: winning elections trumps criminal investigations, and apparently POTUS thinks it is worth criticizing his own AG because he "let" the Justice Department bring charges against two criminals who happen to be Republican Congressman.

Also happens to be a pretty good example of why Trump has to go as soon as possible. He has no concept of the rule of law. They are just a set of rules that apply to everyone else, except when he feels differently. Kind of like a king, actually. And to think Obama was labeled a "king" by conservatives for his creative use of EOs. Clearly, most definitely WORSE than this, obviously!

Yeah.

I mean it's pretty blatant whining about why "His" "Justice" Department is investigating Republicans when it might hurt their chances in the elections. Sadly I sort of doubt this gets much coverage, but wow he just came right out and said it.

I guess law and order only matter if it's a Democrat being charged.

Theres nothing surprising about this. As ive said many times before: The GOP is a criminal organization that exists solely to redistribute bribes and graft while hiding behind "Conservative principles" which is really just a cover for racial resentment & religious fundamentalism

I bet Flake, Collins and Corker are "concerned" by that tweet.
Heck, they might even be "troubled".

Interesting, the "Law and Order"™ candidate puts his political party (which didn't use to mean much to him) over the law. As I said in another thread: "Para mis amigos todo, para mis enemigos la ley"

Just imagine this level of corruption and make it political Machinery being applied to the dozens of decisions he makes every day which he doesn't publicly tweet about. Scary.

What happens if they release a sternly worded statement though?

That would prove beyond any doubt that they are truly reasonable™, sensible™, moderate heroes™ resisting and standing up to Trump, and they deserve 60%+ approval ratings from Democrats.

I certainly agree with Ben Sasse here.

This comment is a shot across the bow at the Rule of Law.

I must admit that I'm speechless.

Here's a good example of how a Republican Senator can do something without "voting against their conservative ideology" or whatever. Simply say that if Trump fires Sessions you'll refuse to vote for any replacement because you don't trust him to appoint someone who will obey the rule of law. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Trump doesn’t care to understand that the Justice Department is meant to be impartial; not partisan, not even bipartisan, but completely impartial to all sides. He believes that it should serve as his executive’s mere tool for harassing the opposition. He’s not concerned about enforcing any laws, particularly ethics laws, unless they can be employed against his opponents. And, what’s worse, is that his supporters agree with him.

The Trump Presidency truly is a test of our institutions. Can they withstand the pressure and chaos of an aspiring tyrant?

Don’t worry. I’m sure you and Ben Sasse will get over in time to go back to supporting Trump’s every move by this time next week.
