Isn't it tied 4-4?

Sen. Colin is assumed to be absent, since he hasn't posted in a while.

I change my vote to Aye, but I'll be pushing for a large cut in the funding.

There goes one of the few positive achievements of this Senate. Shame.
Still think there is a libertarian majority Cheezewhiz?

To approve a non-essential spending increase at a time of national stringency strikes me as fiscally irresponsible. I hope that one or more Senators may be persuaded to change their votes to No.

Nah. They will just say they are fighing for fiscal responsability and everyone will elected them.
of course, we all know to them, being fiscally responsible is raising our taxes.

No, I guess you're probably right that there isn't one Sad

I agree with Bono and Emsworth, why do we need this?  Especially in times of deficit and war.  I urge Al, Gabu, MasterJedi and Defarge to change their votes.

It is my position that art does not fall under the perview of government, particularly the federal government. Therefore, at the moment it is my position to veto this legislation.

But the federal government supports education in many other ways.  Why should the government not support the fine arts?

Well, subsidizing paintings does not really contribute to education in any direct manner.

Then what is next, cutting funding for NPR, PBS, and the Kennedy Center (which the funding was probably already cut for)?

I support education legislation because education is far more than ABCs and 123s, having a literate capable workforce is CRITICAL to our national economy, and national progress. Education can lift people out of poverty, education can end social chaos, and education can make us a global leader in about every measurable field.

Funding art, with little accountability of content does not strike me as having nearly comparable importance. If art is so important, it does not require a bloated budget and the Governors can fund their own programs.

And Ebowed, you're absolutely right, and because you are make damn sure my monument is cool, just don't go naming the state department building after me. Wink
