Why is the Gov and Lt. Gov not on the same ticket?

It could be the case where Abrams wins but not Amico.

It's really sad to think that Kemp has a good shot at winning. He's legitimate and objectively horrible.

In Georgia, candidates for statewide office don't run on a joint ticket.

Anybody who watches ATL media market TV: is this ad running, or is it just online only? Really hoping NGP is blasting the airwaves with this one.

I haven't seen it on local TV.

This is what happened in 2002; Sonny Perdue unexpectedly won the gubernatorial race, but the Democrats did okay downballot (winning Lt Governor, Attorney General, and other smaller offices).  I know that there is tremendous enthusiasm for Abrams with certain groups, and I hope they would vote for all offices (and straight ticket!).

I think Barrow will pull it out for SOS and get over 50% on Tuesday.

Kemp, in his office as SoS, has launched an investigation of the Georgia Democratic Party for allegedly attempting to hack the state's voter system.  He has so far presented no evidence to back up this claim.

The AJC's Jim Galloway (generally a pretty objective political reporter) has a scathing article about this:  https://politics.myajc.com/blog/politics/brian-kemp-november-surprise-show-the-facts-and-make-quick/3jgTq3R4pAQq3x6paQ8PUP/

Yea pretty much. People like Kemp who abuse their power to launch dubious criminal investigations for partisan gain are the kind of people worth Lock Them Up chants. It would be my hope that Abrams would launch an investigation of his office if she won, but somehow I doubt that would happen.

Which is why John Barrow winning the SOS race is about as important as Stacey Abrams winning (Barrow can be make big changes quickly).

Yeah...I mean, it'd be a tough call for me if you gave me the choice to pick only one of them to win. Abrams is important because another decade of bad maps will neuter a Democratic Governor, a lot of row office power and possibilities for the legislative process through 2032, but Barrow is important because even if we were to get fair maps and a shot at total governance, the GOP will just start purging even more voters and creating so many restrictions on voting to keep themselves in power that "fair" conditions won't matter.

I'm really worried what they may try to do to early voting after this election. Even though Democrats do better in EV than ED here, up until now the GOP has almost always won the in-person vote (Obama and Martin probably won it in 2008, but that's it) and has also moped up with mail ballots (historically their best voting category in terms of % won). If Abrams wins by high-single digits or more in the EV, all bets are off regardless of outcome.

So for those who remember my previous two updates assessing white vote distribution relative to 2014 (and how it'd look if every county's white electorate supported Abrams by the same amount as Carter), here's the final EV figures:

2014 Total: 22.9% Carter
As of 10/19: 22.7% Abrams
As of 10/23: 22.9% Abrams
As of 11/2: 23.3% Abrams

So a very modest shift in favor of areas where whites were somewhat friendlier to Carter compared to the beginning of early voting (and also compared to 2014, obviously), but it's not a huge difference. You never know: that extra quarter of a point to Abrams could be the difference between runoff or win, or runoff and no runoff.

Assuming the polls for Governor are accurate, Barrow.

Independently of that and even though we haven't had legitimate polling by reputable entities of the down-ballot, I don't think there have been any polls showing Barrow losing (in the past couple of weeks, 2 polls have him leading by an average of 4 points). Unless new Abrams voters bleed off down-ballot in large numbers, he'll be the best performer of the night win or lose.

Welcome to the third world, courtesy of Trump and the GOP. There's a good chance that Kemp steals this election even if he loses it.

Yes, this looks like a brazen attempt to steal the election.  If I hadn't already switched to the Democrats, this would be enough to make me do it.

Barrow.  He has run a high visibility race, and his TV commercials have appealed to independents and even Republicans.

This returns to the question of if it's worth participating in this charade?

Kemp is one of the worst republican candidates running this cycle, just as a human being. It's ashame that he has such a good chance of winning. Hoping for an Abrams miracle(but it probably won't happen)

It seems Kemp himself is going to personally make sure it doesn't happen.

Brian Kemp SWEATING LIKE A DOG

Georgians: gun to your head, who wins the SOS race?

Barrow and that's not controversial in the slightest. He's going to be the best-performing Democratic candidate statewide and I've been saying so since he initially announced.

The fact all these "revelations" are happening two days before the election makes me suspicious of anything team Kemp has to say.
